Heat In Your Office

Sun Jan 23, 2005 3:35 am

I'm working here all alone on a Saturday in NYC and it is cold and snowy outside. It is about 90 degrees F. inside.

I notice that the colder it gets outside the hotter it is in the office. I'm sitting here in shorts and a T-shirt.

Is it a psychological thing? I've noticed this in *every* office I've ever worked in it is an oven in the winter.

Seems like a waste of energey especially since I've got a huge fan going full blast! I wish I could open a window a crack, but of course I'm in one of those modern office blgs where you can't open a window.

Well, im working in Kingston, Ontario and quite often i'm working outdoors for a while and lately it's been -25C with windchill -36C. When i go back indoors it feels like a bloody oven and i wanna take my jacket(S) off, my hat and gloves and just sit there relaxing. But i know it's not really that warm...it's just that i'm so bloody cold that the temp inside feels hotter than hell. It's only bout 60-70C indoors but feels alot warmer...so i keep my jacket and winter gear on because i know it's a 'fake' heat and i'll sooon have to go back outside to where it's freezing!

ps, alot of people feel cold even when you feel red hot, so i guess it's just the comfort zone of certain people (ie, the boss) that determines the temperature!!

I've been sitting with my coat on all day at work yesterday, I think out office is so cold, a lot of us complain, but they throw back 'it's in line with government policies'. It's bloody freezing.

Here in the Old Pueblo I work indoors. Whether I'm hot or cold depends on the position I'm working and what I'm doing. If I'm working the Legal Records file room, whether I'm hot or cold depends on which section I'm in. Our Divorce section has little airflow compared to others and gets you hot quickly. Work the counter downstairs and you'll freeze without a sweater.
