Scotland Strikes Again!

Tue Jan 25, 2005 9:08 am

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/1786532.stm

This thread is of course in no way directly related to the ignominous French bashing thread started by the infamous GKirk a while ago and which left him speechless and KO after the sixth post.

While Scotland, the Land of the Braves and the Kilts, does not get the media attention it deserves, basically because few volunteer to venture passed the marshes of the Hadrian wall, it appeared today that the BBC does have an antenna which at times pops out an interesting flash on the dayly concerns of the noble but often forgotten Scots.

This one encompasses the delicate subject of strikes.
You will have noted that employees of job agancies are on strike.
Nothing strange perhaps, but the object of the strike is about glasses.
What glasses you may ask ? a worthy question indeed.

Contrary to what many would have presomptuously concluded, it is not at all about recipients made of glass, but about separations made of glass and intended to isolate the employees from the job seekers.
I ask myself, why a separation ?
I doubt that job seekers would be bloody stupid enough to try to rob a job.
Does anyone have an explanation ?

Worthwhile also: the union managing the interests of the concerned party is officially mandated to strike 5 days per month.
If we extrapolate, on the EuFee scale mentioning the average strike days on a 3-year period, the Scots would manage 169 days, and gloriously take the bronze medal. (Gold is justly Greek, off contest, silver is for Iceland)
