I once was married to Gina. She was a real stickler. But anyway, I have to disagree with Mr. Chirac. Where does he get these crazy ideas? Does he find them under a pile of leaves? As Gina always said, "Don't count your gooslings before they are hatched." aint that the truth. Chirac needs to wake up and smell the coffee!

Why not make a "hungry children" tax, or a "clean water" tax. Surely these issues are just as important on the global scale. We shouldn't just make taxes to help only the problems that are popular to be helped at the moment. If anything, we should make a fund to help all problems, not just limit it to AIDS.

Give it about 10-20 years and the AIDS problem should fix itself.

I have a hard time imagining any reason that I should pay money that I worked for to fix a problem on another continent that the governments there refuse to deal with on their own. People send AIDs drugs, the local governments block the deliveries. People try sending condoms, the locals won't use them. Global agencies warn about the dangers of unprotected sex, like anyone is going to listen to that; People in the civilized world can't even figure that one out. Prevention, Education and treatment have all been tried, the next step is sit back and wait.

We can only do so much and throwing money at this problem won't fix it. Let the populations die off, governments across the globe have tried long enough to no avail. You can't help those who won't help themselves.

Here in the US we prefer paying a "War in Iraq" tax. Its much easier paying taxes to pay for our WMDs to hunt for an Iraqi WMD that doesn't exist, than to pay taxes to fight a viral WMD that does.

Were AIDs ever to become a pandemic in Iraq, I guess we'd pay an "AIDS" tax too. Until then, its bombs, ahoy !
