Jude Law - Completely Lame?

Sat Jan 29, 2005 4:13 pm

The Aviator
Closer
Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Sky Captain and the world of tommorow
Alfie.

What do these films all have in common? They are all in cinemas now in some parts of the world and they all feature lame Jude Law. He is a complete flake - devoid of any talent or screen presence. He pronounces his "t" sounds as "s" sounds - grrrrrrr.

Why the hell is he in so many movies - why would anyone like this trashy, self-important, did I mention *lame* idiot who prances around in his ridiculous scarves advertising himself.

Why is this walking personality-bypass so freaking popular??

Is the world insane???!!!

RRRHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA!

I've actually just come in from the Cinema from seeing Closer, I wasn't that impressed by it, it jumped to months ahead, and you didn't know where you were. I've never really took much notice of Jude Law, and he still does nothing for me. Now George Clooney on the other hand...

I don't think I'm the only one.

I thought he was pretty good in Enemy at the Gate..

Wasn't he killed in that movie? If so - it was brilliant.

"Wasn't he killed in that movie?" unfortunately he was the victor in a lengthy sniper battle between a top german sniper and himself. Based on a true story.

Edit: Forgot to add that, playing a russian he should have atleast tried to speak with a russian accent. The Brits ruined the movie with their accents.

I LOVE Jude Law.

He's a great actor, and those are great movies.

Very personable in real life, too.

What's with all the Aussies hating Jude Law? Did he say some disparaging remark about your country? Or is it simply the usual anti-England sentiment?

QFF, first you go on a tirade about Jude Law then a bunch of your compatriots join you. So it's a legit. question, you needn't be such a suck about it.

Malb777,

Totally agree about Shane Warne. Did you see him about the tsunami appeal on TV recently? He was talking to the newsreader and he was like "Aw mate, I was so shocked...blah blah", but he was actually smiling in the background. That whole speech was bullshit. And also the damn commentators, especially Richie Benaud, he thinks Shane Warne is God or something. Total jerks.

Getting back to the topic though, anyone seen GATTACA? I thought Jude Law acted pretty well in that.

I also thought he acted well in Gattica, as he did in 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' and 'Artificial Intelligence:AI', very diverse roles all portrayed well. Actually, considering QFF said 'He is a complete flake - devoid of any talent or screen presence.' I doubt it if he ever saw those films.

Yukimizake -

You earlier said: Or is it simply the usual anti-England sentiment?

Thus, I feel no compulsion to respond to your question. The opinions expressed by me and by my fellow countrymen and women are incidentally similar. There is no need to play dumb, I know provocation when I read it.

considering QFF said 'He is a complete flake - devoid of any talent or screen presence.' I doubt it if he ever saw those films.

I saw both films and was not impressed with his performance.

Instead you feel the compulsion to be a wuss, you're more sensitive than a 12 year old at the junior high prom.

You can honestly say that his performance as Gigolo Joe in Artificial Intelligence did not have any screen presence?, Seriously?, You wouldn't know what screen presence was if it came up behind you and bit you in the ass.

You are out to argue, and I don't want to waste my time. Sorry but you'll get no satisfaction from me.

What I will say is that Law has only one or two tricks up his sleave which he uses time and time again. He was mildly impressive in Ai, but the role could certainly have been better with an actor such as Patrick Wilson or Jamie Foxx.

You start this thread making ridiculous statements about a decent actor, you then post a photograph with some weird caption ("Why don't you ... eat my boobies" - WTF is that supposed to mean?), and then when someone disagrees with you you say 'You are out to argue, and I don't want to waste my time'. In that case why the hell did you even start this thread in the first place? 'did I mention *lame* idiot'

lol - So you thought that my original comments were totally serious? Ooookaaaaaayy.

Obviously someone doesn't have a sense of humour. Yeah, I don't like Jude Law - but most of the words I used to describe him were intentionally outlandish. Geez - have you no sense of humour at all?

The next thing - you run in here and try to associate this thread with opinions I may or may not hold about a certain country. I know that there are people here who want to wind me up and I don't want to play that game. SO you have pushed and pushed and pushed and taken this thread to some stupid intellectual level where it was never intended to go.

Several people have disagreed with me about Law, but you are the only one who has done so with provocation. If people love him - fine.

But when you write things like this:
What's with all the Aussies hating Jude Law? Did he say some disparaging remark about your country? Or is it simply the usual anti-England sentiment?

It takes it to a different level because you are trying to have an argument that I am not at all interested in having. If you don't think you are provoking then you are completely out of it.

No offense or anything, but you sound like you're jealous.

Lots of people have said they don't like him - are they all jealous too?

QFF

Screw this thread, it was meant to be lighthearted and kinda funny. Way to go Yukimizake.

Jude Law made a couple of good films (brilliant in "Wilde" and a solid performance in "AI") but other than that nothing major.

He's also rather narcissistic and certainly overrated. Maybe a few more years might see him mature into a decent actor as he's not that old.
