Seriously - I think the Catholic Church needs a pope that can actually talk and walk and stand up and point etc. Oh - and kiss the ground without the aid of a massive €300,000 ground kissing papal lowering machine.

I think he is talking about the Pope's and the catholic church's views on contraception - and how as a result the devoutly catholic people of Africa do not use contraception in an enviroment rife with the virus.

This time last year, there was a Psychic that had his own time on a New Zealand radio station called 'Newstalk ZB'. He helped people find their lost animals and helped with advice about well....Psychic stuff. Anyway I know the host of the radio station who was on with him, and he said that before he met this guy he thought it was all a load of shit, but he himself got 'help' from this guy.

Behind the mic the Psychic told him that "This year there will be a huge earthquake in Wellington (NZ capital) and the Pope will die within the next three months."

Wellington has been experiencing lots of earthquakes recently and they are waiting for the big one. Maybe the Psychic was a year early.

The Holy Father is once again showing his spiritual strength. He offers his pain and suffering to God and His Church, which is such a powerful example for all Catholics and people of good will. After all, the Pope knows that despite all kind of problems he's done such a great work for the Church. I'll keep him in my prayers.

And i also pray and hope that he recovers, and when the Lord calls him, i pray that the next Pope can continue the changes and modernizationthe church needs

How dare you presume to think that my comment meant that I wanted him to die! Of course I don't want to pope dead! Geez.

I hope he does recover. He is a good man.

"Who is in line to replace him? (Sorry for the stupid questions, but I am just curious)."

Any Cardinal as a member of the "Colegio Cardenalicio" can substitute John Paul The II when he resign or die. But the Canonic Law contemplate the possibility that "anybody" can be a Pope. So is not even necessary to be a priest.

My guess is that the next Pope will be an Italian one when the time is due.

By the way, your questions are NOT stupid. Who said so?

What TACAA320 said is correct here in Italy some voices say that Cardinal Maria Martini ( former archbishop of Milano ) can be a valued candidate however somebody is making concerns regarding is health.

Since the position of Pontiff is for life, the bureaucracy of the Church is often inclined to vote for the oldest Cardinals to ensure quick rotation of the position.

The Holy Father is one to be admired... Despite his frail health and constant pain he still goes about is duties with perseverance. It is the strength of God that can fill people with such fortitude.

So now he's responsible [partially] for the spreading of AIDS. Tomorrow Mother Theresa will be responsible for hepatitis C. This is outrageous, not to call it "stupid".

By the way, only God decide who go to heaven according with the Catholic faith.

I think you have to wait for a while. How much time? Nobody knows...

Even more, you may die first, or myself. Anybody can die [and in fact many people pass away each day while The Pope is still alive] before him!

Well.. not encouraging the use of condoms is technically "spreading AIDS".

This, i think, has been the biggest blemish in a an amazing career as Pope.

Then again, he is human so he is bound to make mistakes.

If The Pope encourage somebody to jump from a bridge, or not run away in case of fire, he will be guilty of the deaths?

Come on. The Catholic Church encourage in certain circumstances for "abstinence" instead of the use of condoms.

The base of the education is responsibility of the parents. "PARENTS, ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN TO USE CONDOMS".

By the way, this point was discussed to death here in A.net

If somebody wants to use a condom, or two or three at the same time [and if he can "handle" them], then USE THEM, but don't blame The Pope!

I agree with you 100%. But if the Church is openly condeming the use of condoms, strict catholic parents will not want to go against the church. So Are you encorging parents to againts the chruch stance on this issue?

Im just saying, that the church should also voice a favourable opinion on the use of condoms. Abstinence is better, i agree, but as we "wish" until this becomes a reality worldwide people are dying

Come on. The Catholic Church encourage in certain circumstances for "abstinence" instead of the use of condoms.

Dont undestant what you mean. Si quieres lo puedes escribir en Español.

If The Pope encourage somebody to jump from a bridge, or not run away in case of fire, he will be guilty of the deaths?

From and ethical point of view, its debatable. He could be responsible. Investigate "utilitarian" ethic theory. Then get back to me. If you do dont have time, bit i'd be happy to give you a little explanation  Wink/being sarcastic

Besides im not blamimg "the Pope" - I am blamimg the church's stance in general.

"So Are you encorging[sic] parents to againts[sic] the chruch[sic] stance on this issue?"

What I'm trying to say is that the Holy Father is not the one who "guides" a teenager about when and where to use a condom. According to statistics, boys and girls start having sex around the age of 13 in many countries [earlier in some others like Malaysia as a sex slaves]. Who are in your opinion the first person[s] obligated to talk about sex to the children, and the use of contraceptives, The Pope, the parents or the teachers? [Or anybody else?]. Who is responsible of a single pregnant [or with HIV] teenagers of 12, 13, 14 etc. years old? The Pope?. I don't think so.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Come on. The Catholic Church encourage in certain circumstances for "abstinence" instead of the use of condoms."

What I'm trying to say is that the Catholic Church ask for abstinence [not having sex] "outside" the matrimony. The CC doesn't "promote" sex outside the matrimony just inside of it. You may check this link that is very clarifying in this regard if you wish: or use Google and ask for the "Catecismo Católico". Is from John Paul II and available in several languages.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"From and ethical point of view, its debatable. He could be responsible. Investigate "utilitarian" ethic theory. Then get back to me. If you do dont[sic] have time, bit i'd[sic] be happy to give you a little explanation "
[Will be more than glad to read your explanation].

I teach Philosophy of Law, and always try to look not only the ethical but legal consequences of a problem. From any point of view, your are obligated to comply with any rule that may put your life in risk. Remember the ten commandments: " 5.- Thou shalt not kill". And a person who has AIDS or any other deadly decease, and know such circumstance, is a criminal if he/she have sex with others. Even with her husband or his wife..

"Besides im[sic] not blamimg[sic] "the Pope" - I am blamimg[sic] the church's stance in general."

I can't understand that from your reply 45. According with what I read there, you are making a direct reference to The Pope. If I'm wrong please accept my apologies.

If you want me to put something in Spanish, I will be more than glad doing that, but through and instant message [I don't want to break any rule].

Thanks,
