Info For Vacations In South Africa

Fri Feb 18, 2005 7:47 am

Hello Friends,

At the end of next September, I leave for three weeks holiday to "South Africa".
I'll travel by plane to JNB and from there I would like to make a safari for a few days in the "kruger park".
Is there somebody who can give me information about some safari to made in the Kruger Park ?
I work for "SN Brussels Airlines", and I would like to know if as "Airliner Staff " there are specials connections and specials prices ??? ( Do you know some local Tour Operators ) ?
After I'll take the plane to Port Elisabeth, rent a car, and go from Port Elisabeth to Cape Town.
If you know some good places to stay, please, let me know it.

So dear Friends, thank you very much in advance for your answers and share
your experiences in South Africa .

Take care

Pat

I'm surprised you got no replies so far.

Check out these websites:

http://www.southafrica.net/
http://www.krugerpark.co.za/

You can fly or drive from Johannesburg to Kruger, SA Express operates flights daily (they are an SAA partner). Driving will take 4-5 hours.

Driving from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town is about 800km through some beautiful coastal countryside, take your time and enjoy it. And make sure you have plenty of time to explore Cape Town!

I recommend a night stop in George on your way from Port Elizabth to Cape Town. George is great!

Cape Town is definitely worth a long stay. Very nice city.

If you would like any further info , don't hesitate to e-mail.

"How safe is South Africa?"

Like any city , it depends where you are. Otherwise , South Africa is like any country really in terms of safety.

Hi Pat747

I agree with Andz and SA006's replies.

Fly to Kruger-Nelspruit Airport and rent a car there. It will shave of a few valuable hours of traveling time, which can be spend much more wisely elsewhere. Try out his website as well:

Renting a car in Port Elizabeth and driving towards Cape Town is spot on. You will experience some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world! When reaching the Tsitsikamma Toll Road you have two choices, either proceed with the toll road and take a bungee from the Bloukrans Bridge (216m/708ft) or drive via the beautiful Bloukrans and Groot River mountain passes.

Whichever way you go, don't miss quiet and gorgeous Natures Valley, it's a must see and a very nice place to kick of your shoes for a few days. Personally we find it a haven and will spend weeks here if we can.

Driving along the rest of the coast to CPT will be a real treat, just remember to spare time for sidetrips to places of the beaten track. As for Cape Town itself, it will keep you busy for quite a while....

With regards to safety: Just be sensible and use the common sense that you would use in other major world cities. Don't stray into obvious unsafe areas and don't trust anyone you don't know from at least somewhere reputable.

Pat

If you are looking for things to do in Cape Town check out this site:

My favourite place to stay in Cape Town is the Blue Peter Hotel in Bloubergstrand, one of the most stunning views in the world, not expensive, great sunsets and the BABES!!!  Smile
