MADtoCAE, I heard they died in the tsunami and after their digital camera was recovered, the flash memory was still intact and they were able to retrive those photos from the flash card.

They died. They interviewed the couple's three adult sons on CBS this morning. It was the sons' theory that by the time the couple realized what they were facing, it was too late to run. They believe their parents took the photos to leave some sort of record behind.

Per the reports on the TV news progams this am in the USA, the couple's bodies were found about a week ago, and they found the camera with them. As it also had a time stamp on the chip, most of the pix were taken in a 15-20 minute time period. I am quite sure they didn't even comprenhend what risk they were under, although the last of the pictures, shows what apperars to be a 10M/30ft. wave comming at them. This tsunami has left a very horrifying and detailed history with pictures like these.

I saw these pictures last night on NBC....I believe that Brian Williams said that this couple was vacationing in Thailand....they loved this place so much that they returned year after year. Incredible photos.

Very sad indeed. The photos are amazing. Considering Tsunamis are rare and happen so fast, it's extremly hard to find actual images of a tsunami.

I heard the camera was washed up on shore elsewhere; not with the couple. The couple was found about a week apart, but near each other. Very sad indeed.

What gets me is that we are seeing so many pictures of the surf receding so far, yet this did not seem to phase anyone. I thought it was common knowledge that when this happened, and enormous wave was building. All the pictures I've seen show people meandering around and going about their business in front of the receded surf.

That's so scary. If I had been on that beach and seen the wave in the first pic I probably would have run towards the water to play in the surf.
