Shame On Swedish TV

Fri Mar 04, 2005 11:34 pm

What a blunder from Swedish TV

- They mistakenly published an obituary for Pope John Paul II on its website, where it remained for more than five hours before it was taken down.

An employee had been working on the pope's obituary in advance when he mistakenly hit a button that posted the text on the website

Under a picture of the ailing pontiff in an audience with the Swedish king and queen, the website stated: "Pope John Paul has died".
A man without the knowledge of his past history, culture and origins is like a tree without roots

Some newspaper did the same about five days prior to Yassir Arafat's actual death.

Bianca Fumata, anyone ?

I'd only get concerned about this if it was my obituary I was reading, and then I'd probably handle it like Mark Twain -- "reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

I think, just like the rest of us, they were just being hopeful!

CTK - Czech Press Agency once published accidently fmr president's obituary while he was seriously ill. Shit happens, no big deal.

A few years ago, a Congressman announced Bob Hope's death to a session of Congress, at least a year before Hope actually did die.
