Star Wars Episode III Trailer

Fri Mar 11, 2005 11:09 am

It just premiered on FOX. Anyone see it? For anyone in the US not on EST, it's on right after The O.C., so turn it on at around 8:50pm...it's within the last ten minutes!

It was amazing.

Missed it on the OC, but just watched a bootleg quicktime copy. I hope this is the film we (us geeks) have been waiting for since the prequels were announced. If it's like the trailer, it should be.
I do hope they clean up the CGI. Parts of the trailer looked animated.

I believe George Lucas will be on 60 minutes this weekend talking about it. He says that even he thinks it will be PG-13, and he wouldn't take little kids to see it.

There really is only one movie I'm looking forward to this year - Clive Cussler's Sahara, starring Penelope Cruz, Matthew McConneghy < SP? >, Steve Zahn and William H. Macy. Hopefully, since Cussler had a lot to do with the script approval, it will remain close to the book.

I lost it for Star Wars when Yoda went Midevil on some guy in the last one...just plain stupid and, instead of the climactic scene it was supposed to be, it was just plain comical.  thumbsdown

I just saw the tail end of the trailer. Looks pretty awesome. Not too far away either. I've actually liked the second movie, but didn't like the first. Out of curiosity where did they film it?

Also, in history today, we are studying about Hitler, we saw a clip of over a million people out to see him. Everyone was in groups, with a giant path like in some of the Star Wars scenes, with Hitler walking down the middle like an emperor. My teacher noted how Lucas borrowed some from video clips from Germany.

MxCtrlr,

Don't get your hopes up on Sahara. I read somewhere that Cussler was very disappointed in the movie. He compared it to 'Raise the Titanic'. I will just have to go see it for Penelope!

Having seen the trailer for the movie, it appears that it follows quite a bit of the storylines from the book. From what I could gather, the problems between Clive Cussler and Crusader Entertainment (or whatever they're calling themselves today) stemmed from their refusal to allow Cussler to write the screenplay for the movie. Their position (and probably a good one) is that Cussler has no screenwriting credits to his name. Being a good novelist does not automatically make you a good screenwriter.

I'm looking forward to Cusslers movie as well.

I'd really like to see Griffins books put to the screen as well . . . ala Clancy.

The Corps would be great as a mini-series.

I saw it before Constantine in the cinema yesterday. Looked allright. I'll have to see it as I've seen all the others. But I won't grab my lightsaber and sleep outside the cinema for a week just to get tickets to the premier...

The Star Wars Episode III trailer looks pretty good. I really want to see the real thing here, and shut up all the people who want to appear to be smart by criticizing Lucas for whatever he does on this. There is no way for the prequels to have the same impact as the originals because the original three movies were groundbreaking in their effects and mixed in with a classic story with emotive and engaging characters that filled and exceeded our expectations. How the hell do you repeat that effect?

Mr. Cussler has taken the producers to court saying they reneged on their guarantees to give him script and casting approval. He had demanded that as a pre-requisite to making the movie, having sworn off movies after the "Raise the Titanic" disaster where the producers and director completely rewrote the book.

I'd love to see Mr. Butterworth's (WEB Griffin's) books brought to the screen. It would probably need to be a mini-series in order to get the whole thing done.
