indeed, the spanish definitely did nothing to deserve what happened to them, utter shame. I've no idea why something like that has not happened here yet we've been very lucky. I would hope the families affected have managed to rebuild their lives to some degree

The churches sounded their bells during three minutes this morning at the time of the bombings, and there will be more commemorative services during the day. Many victims and victims´ families said however they don´t want to participate in any special acts, they closed the chapter and want to go on with their lives.
The bombings last year were very dramatic indeed, I walked along in the demonstrations in Valencia, 2 days thereafter. The streets were packed with people, an event I´ll never forget.

I hear the muslims in Spain have released a Fatwa on Bin Laden today. (Please forgive any mistakes in the previous sentence, I'm not sure how to use the word Fatwa.) They have chosen this day to inform the world that "any muslim who kills people and perform terrorist acts, is not a real muslim."

Well said, as the Koran(?) says a good muslim never shall claim the life of another person.

I remember that day very well...
It was a real chaos here in Madrid, nobody knew what was happening. First it was a little boom , then it was 192 casualties  Sad

One year indeed. As Josemex said, Madrid is a great city and they have probed it once again.

So sad.... so senseless. I hope Spain continues to heal. The civilized world stands in solidarity with Madrid and Spain on this mournful anniversary.

To think that my aunt and uncle missed all of this by 1 minute! It was really scary to even hear! As a Conductor for the Long Island RR, I'm constantly concerned about this happening here in the US, especially since Penn station is so heavily crowded with people. It amazes me that there can be people out there who can actually do this sort of thing. Much as what we experienced on 9/11, I can totally understand how the people of Spain feel today. My heart goes out to all of them! Viva Espana!!!!

Very sad day indeed. No one at my school even remembered that it was 1 year ago today, 1 kid thought it was yesterday, so close. It wasn't even mentioned at all.

Los Madrilenos han sobrevividos tres anos en la frente de la guerra civil, los bombardeos de la Legion Condor, 35 anos de fascismo Espanol, attentados de la ETA y los attentados del fascismo religioso muselmano. Viva Madrid!

Sorry, I don´t have a Spanish language keyboard.
