The LeBron Powerade Commercial -Fake?

Tue Mar 22, 2005 10:20 am

Is there any way he could so effortlessly be shooting full-court? I think not.

i think its fake...notice how the ball goes out of view then they pan towards the basket...easily another ball used there.

I think this is the same themed ad as the one showing Michael Vick throwing into what looks like the upper deck of a football stadium. I think that one was Powerade also.

Its most definately fake. LeBron is good, but he is not that good.

I happen to love the commercial though, it cracks me up about every time I see it.

I agree...its probably a real ball being thrown by him...but once it goes out of view, then they did some sort of video photoshopping for the ball on its descents...

Great comercial, and very tough to tell it's fake. They do a truely great job of editing to make it look as real as possible.

You may think I am crazy but I think that it is definitly real. I know one day as I was practicing before a game, before we go for our hudle we each shoot 5 from half court. I once maid 3 out of the 5 in a row so I dont see how it could not be possible.

It is most definitely fake. The ball could never acheive the height or distance with the kind of stroke that he is taking. He is shooting the ball with a similar form to a normal jump shot. He or no one would have the strength to have that distance/accuracy with that form. Even in the NBA as well as all other levels of basketball you have to do a running heave with momentum from running, or throw the ball more like a football. You just cannot generate the power from your arms and legs to shoot a ball >80 feet the same style as youre shooting 18-25 feet. Combine the sheer mechanics of the jumpshot and the crazy accuracy portrayed, its definitely not real.

Yes Justin, but if your legs are strong enough and you can get enough kick out of them you could easily do it without a running start. Personally, I can easily do it from the opposite three point line and make it. Have done it twice in my life. From the other side I have to get a running start, my legs are strong but not that strong. Also, with the trajectory of the ball and the length it is a simply mathematical equation. Go back to your trigonometry years. If you take the simple length of the floor, 93 feet and lets call the height x we can find the answer. I believe we find that the ball has to attain a height of about 93 feet to go in as it did. So if LeBron James can send the ball 93 feet into the air on a 93 foot shot he can do it.

its very easy to tell its fake especially on the last two shots.. the arc he shoots it at is much smaller then the arc that the ball going into the hoop posseses..

Hahah... do y'all really need Snopes.com and the Chicago Tribune to figure out that this isn't real? Airlinerfreak - I've hit a couple of the same shots in my life. But in the ad, LeBron is swishing 80-foot turnarounds and fallaways. Yeah, he's good - just not that good.
