Are U A Morning Person Or A Night Owl?

Tue Mar 22, 2005 10:35 am

OK heres a question for you all  Smile

Are you a "Morning Person" or a "Night Owl"?

I'm a bit of both - sometimes I just need my sleep, especially with the shifts I work on the railway  duck

What about you?

Night owl in the extreme. But I have disciplined myself to go to sleep by 11:00 p.m. so that I can function in the world of the mortals.

I'm a 150% night owl... sometimes I am a morning person, but that's only when the night owl stays up too long.

Night owl. Without a doubt... I love my sleep, and it doesn't matter how much I get-- the earlier I wake up, the worse off I am.

Night Owl and proud, working 0700-1500 and miserable. For my working life of some 25+ years I have worked shifs like 1100-2100, 1500-2300 etc and loved it. for the past 10 months or so I have been working 0700-1500 and i find it quite hard to get used to.

I am an Afternoon Guru, that's it, I have my energy at around 1PM so that is my favorite time of the day. I am getting old now, and I find that even the thought of going out late makes me tired. I still on the odd time go out late but I stay out late but then my next day is a write off.

I used to be a only-between-the-hours-of-noon-and-22:00 person, but I have recently been converted to a night person due to shift work.

Night Owl for 100%!

I hate mornings (the time between 6 and 12 o'clock), I am glad that I am working at this time, so I don't look at the clock Big grin.

I am 100% afternoon person. I think I never sleep during afternoon.

Thirteen replies and not one person claims to be a morning person. I wonder if the time that this was posted had anything to do with that?  yes

My body seems to perform the same in the morning as it does at night. I've been waking up at 6:30AM and going to sleep at 11:30PM. With that time frame, my times of lowest energy and enthusiasm are about 10:00AM for a half hour or less, and a longer lull from 3:30PM to 5:00PM. After that I'm all wound up again, and I've actually been dumping some extra energy by jogging in the past few nights. Tonight I ran three miles from 8:35PM to 9:05PM, last night I started the three miles at 9:45PM.

I'm a little of each. I don't consider myself a night owl, because I'm usually asleep by midnight or 1 AM (maybe later if someone interesting is on Conan...). I'm also NOT a morning person; if I don't have to wake up, I'll sleep til 11AM or noon.

Sometimes I don't get to sleep until as late as 3am, then have to wake up for classes at 8, catching naps throughout the day. I'm trying to discipline myself to midnight (actually I decided that that starts tonight).

I like mornings. If the weather is nice then my fav time of day is ussually morning. But also, during summer break I'll be up and about till some unholy hour of the morning and then asleep till noon quite often.

So I'm both i guess...

Night owl. I'm up till 2 working most nights, due to the nature of my work. The nice thing is I don't have to start work until about noon (it's still a 14 hour day).

Mornings are for sissies who are afraid of the dark.

Kidding... but only a little. I'm a confirmed night owl who breaks into cold sweats thinking about how my next job might require me to teach classes at some ghastly hour like 7am. I don't have any idea how people function at those times of day.

I am a bit of both.

on school days, i don't want to get out of bed because I need to wake up at 6.40a (GMT-6) and I'm in bed by 23.00-23.30 but on weekends, I will go to sleep around 1.00-3.00a with 4.00a being the very latest I will go to bed and it has happened. If I go to bed late, I will be up by 10.30-11.00 but then I feel guilty because I feel like that I have slept the entire morning away and soon its going to be dinner time and then I feel like I accomplished nothing.

If I wake up around 9.00a-10.30a, I feel like I didn't sleep the morning away and I feel like I actually accomplished something although I mostly dont accomplish anything...

So... I am definitely an afternoon person but I like to be up late at night but I dont like the early morning ... around 5.30-8.00.

Both. I can't sleep for more than 10 hours (average about 7.5). I can get up early in the morning (have 830 class every day) and then go on forever if that is what is needed.

I can and do stay up as late as need be, even past sunrise.... but actually going to bed and then waking up before 10am is a Herculean task for me on any given day.

I go to bed around midnight-1:00 AM during the week and usually around 2:00 AM on weekends. We have flex time at work, so I usually get in between 9 and 10 AM and leave between 6 and 7 PM.

Back in college I used to pull all nighters all of the time. Totally screwed up my scheduling.

A night owl who's been forced to become a morning person. I have to get up at 5 AM to be ready for my first class at 7 AM, and since I'm the one teaching I have no excuse to be late.

In my good ol' days, I used to hit the sack around 3 AM every day. Gosh, I miss those carefree days!

I'm 89.34% night owl. I hate mornings. It usually takes me a couple hours to get up to speed if I have to wake up before 0900. I'm often up until 0300, even if I have to be up at 0500 to go to work.

Definately a night person. My work schedule starts at 3:30 PM and runs through midnight each day. I get up around 10:00 AM, do my chores and stuff. Leave for work between 2:00 and 2:30 PM. Arrive home around 12:30 to 1:00 AM, eat a meal, and usually turn in between 2:00 and 3:00 AM though I occasionally stay up as late as 4:00 or 4:30.

I hate getting up early (though have to on 3 of 5 weekdays to get to work at 7:30 or 8).

I'm a bit of a night owl, but not because I party or anything. I just get home late (I'm in town all day going to different places for work, though my hours themselves are not long) and do stuff before bed.

I'm not gonna be original on this one... I'm a night owl also, though I have arranged my rythm so that on weekdays I sleep like a normal person.

Sleeping Schedule
1234--7 2200-0630+
-----67 0300-1100
+ The next day.

Sorry for the airline timetable format. It's a bad habit...  Yeah sure

There are also special occasions, like the exam session for example. So far my record is being awake 72h in a row (with two or three 1½h naps somewhere in between). There are also the WebsiteDevelopingNights when I sleep from 10 in the morning till 6 in the evening...

Most people say I'm crazy and need professional help.
