I am, Eagle Scout in 2000... though in hindsight I'm split on my opinion of the organization. I was an SPL twice, did high-adventure in Northern Teir twice, and am very much the better for the experiences.
Here's my group doing one of those things that you know is wrong, life threatening, but fun, so you do it anyway. That's what I remember most about the organization. We actually were camping in those tents below, and the guy on the far left said something to the effect of: "Hey wouldn't it be fun it we ____ " Second on the right would be yours truely when I was 15 or 16.
My only objection with BSA is their archaic homophobia. I was just leaving BSA when that really flamed up (no pun intended), and being young at the time I was like, no everyone's just exaggerating. But in hindsight, the sheer closemindedness and exclusive, pompus attitude disappoints me to no end... when I was a Scout it was a youth organization not a country club.
