How Can A Yacht Be Republican?

How can a yacht be Republican?

I was talking to an associate the other night. Back during the election season, President Bush was attending a function at a home overlooking the Caloosahatchee River in southwest Florida.

My associate – a staunch democrat – went to protest. The local democrat contingent organized a flotilla of three pontoon boats with various signs decrying the current administration’s policies. They set forth floating down Caloosahatchee exercising free speech.

One of the organizers of this event kept pointing out large pleasure boats and labeling them “Republican Yachts.” Now, keep in mind, these yachts were void of protestors and posters, unlike the armada of pontoon boats.

My associate, being quite capable of acquiring said boat for pleasure purposes, finally commented “What if I want a yacht like that?”

His reply, “You’d have to hurt someone else.”

Two questions:

1. How does one arrive at the assumption “Republican Yacht?”
2. How does one hurt someone else by acquiring a yacht?

Because those big yachts are very expensive and well Republicans are pretty much rich so that's how that connection is made. I think its pretty stupid but democrats are also rich but for some reason, Republicans have gotten that label.

That I don't understand. I mean, just because you buy a big yacht doesn't make you a bad person or offend anyone. On the contrary, I would say party on whoever bought the yacht! I think it is lame to say that you are hurting someone else just by acquiring a "republican" yacht because there really is no connection between the Republican party and the yacht.

I believe he assumes that anyone who spends (and in his opinion, wastes) large sums of money on a yacht must be a Republican.

Got me there: I guess yachts pollute (as all IC boats do), and buying a yacht is money that isn't being used to help the poor, save the rainforest, or protect antelope.

Personally, I have more against Ford Explorers and H2's than I do a million dollar home or yacht. I don't see why some people stress so much about other people's lives. How can you enjoy your own? I've got convictions I believe in, but for god sakes, chill every now and then.

Could be Dfw and AJBUS's reasons, but personally I think the guy who said that was just being a tard and telling the guy that he'd have to steal someone else's.

As bad as you got my name and talk about not proof reading your post, I am assuming you are referring to me. As for having two cars, that is different than having a yacht. Cars I use daily and they help get me from point A to point B. A yacht is pure luxury and while I don't think they are a waste of money, comparing cars to yacht...yachts are a bigger waste.

And you are miraculously capable of driving two BMW's at once?

No, but I drive one on Monday then the other on Tuesday etc....in other words, one day one and then the other a different one..it is really cool...lol Sometimes, I just drive the car mostly and the SUV only when I need it. It also keeps the mileage down on the cars, by using both.

That makes no sense. The overall loss in depreciation values will be greater with both cares, than just running down one. And also, a yacht gets you from point A to point B, just like a car, except on the water.

Well for one, depreciation of BMW's is different than the depreciation of other cars. And as for yachts getting you from point a to point b, well is that on a daily basis? I dont think so.

The organizer (as well as most democrats who waste their time making posters and protesting) is a retard, that's why. When people are desperate for a reason to hate another group they come up with crap like that.
