I had heard talk about his show for some time, and I was absolutely blown away when I finally saw it. One of the funniest guys on TVBig grin

BTW I heard he gave a commencement at I think Harvard, does anyone have a clip or transcript of this? I really want to see it.

It's like punked, but with a wannabe gangster-rapper British guy, who has a faggotie goatee. Actually I think most gay guys even hate how gay his goatee is..

Sascha Baron Cohen is one of the greatest comic geniuses to come along in a while. I liked his panel discussion of science: "Yes, but can your computer multiply 9999999999999999999999999999999 times 99999999..."?

Also, I can't believe no one has mentioned Borat. He is the best part of the show these days...but remember ladies, if you want to date him, you will need at least two years of plough experience...

I love Borat.

Last night during a job interview, he asked the interviewer if he could put a camera in the ladies bathroom.

One of his strong points he explained was being able to hold large woman down for three hours.

During his interview of Andy Rooney, Ali G asked why the media doesn't publish events one day before they happen.

I always thought that the clip where Borat sang his country's national anthem at a US baseball game was hilarious !

Didn't he also pull off some speech in the US recently about the Iraq war that almost got him lynched ? ?
By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Here, found this on it - hilarious !

"..At the rodeo in Roanoke, Southwest Virginia, USA, Borat was given permission to sing the national anthem. He started well introducing himself and saying that he supported the war against terrorism. He then was reported as saying,

"I hope you kill every man, woman and child in Iraq, down to the lizards"

and then,

"May George W. Bush drink the blood of every man, woman and child in Iraq"

Borat then got the words of the national anthem wrong finishing with...

"your home in a grave".

The organisers of the event realised that the crowd were angry and they rushed him away fearing violence..."
By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

In early 1999, a friend who lives in Staines, just south of LHR, spotted camera crews and fake graffiti being applied to a nearby underpass.
It was the backdrop to the intro of Ali G.

A few weeks later Ali G appeared on a satirical Channel 4 programme 'The 11 O'Clock Show', he was about the best thing on it, also featuring some unknown bloke called Ricky Gervais.

Ali G got his own series, though the trick of making interview guests think he really was a 'Yoof TV' interviewer of quite staggering stupidity had been rumbled, so it went more towards a sketch format, but Borat still fooled enough people.

Hence the US edition, where no one has heard of him.

The 'Iraq' song was reported over here, but what about another Borat incident, as the US series has been shown here, I've seen it.

Borat was at a Country & Western bar, he introduced himself, where he was from, how he was going to sing a song about a 'problem' in his native Khazastan (SP?)

It was called 'Throw The Jew Down The Well'.
His delivery and diction was crystal clear, he urged the audience to join in with the 'Throw The Jew Down The Well' chorus, which the crowd largely did, smiling and with enthusiasm.

It seemed a normal enough bar, no white power symbols on the walls, just a regular C&W place, the crowd were not skinheads, but plenty of Stetsons in evidence.

A quick Google ('Borat's songs') revealed much, plenty of videos to download of the sketch, (but I'm not about to risk being banned by linking it here).
However;

http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/oct04/borat.php

It seems this might have been dropped from the US broadcasts, it was shown over here in all it's jaw dropping, gobsmacking entirety.

Before anyone says these drinkers did not know what he was singing, they seemed keen enough to join in mostly, at least one raised his glass to Borat.

Also, after the 'Iraq' song, at least two idiots reported him to the FBI as 'a threat to George Bush.'

That took place in Tuscon, Arizona...and frankly, funny as it was, I can't believe those idiots in the bar actually sang along with him...so shameful...

GDB, that was definitely shown over here, as part of the normal series. Check out the woman miming along when the song talks about the Jews' horns...

Much of Borat's humor comes from exposing people's racism and sexism, because they think he shares their hatreds...and they think they are only on TV in Kazakhstan.

For example: right before the "Throw the Jew Down the Well," he also taught a squaredancing class his move called "Beat the Gypsy," and in other episodes he has gotten people to say all kinds of things about "chocolate faced people" etc. etc.

One of my favorites was when he tricked some crazy homophobic guy into saying that what he'd really like to do to "fags" was stick his cock up their asses as punishment.

There have been things that were not screened though, because Cohen decided the line between funny and scary had been crossed and they were too painful to watch. There was one in which a rancher in Texas started going off about how hunting in Africa used to be much better when you could shoot the animals and the black people. The diatribe was never screened.

There was another incident, I think, in which the film crew literally had to run away after Bruno (I think it was), interviewing a group of skinheads, asked them if they hated gay people because they were all secretly gay.
