Your Hometown's Partner City(-ies)

Sun Apr 17, 2005 8:15 am

I noticed that almost every town has one or more partner city somwhere in the world. I'd be interested to hear what is your hometown and what is/are its partner city(ies)

I'll start. My hometown is a city called Hradec Kralove - http://www.hradeckralove.org - population 95.000. Its partner cities are:

Alessandria, Italy
Arnhem, the Netherlands
Banska Bystrica, Slovakia
Giessen, Germany
Kastela, Croatia
Metz, France
Wroclaw, Poland
Walbrzych, Poland

I think I saw some add with flags on it at ORD talking about something like that.

You're right. I remember going from T1 to T2 the flags are above the windows from which people can view the E gates, just in front of the Air Canada gates.

Quoting N1120A (Reply 8):
Caracas, Venezuela

Quoting N1120A (Reply 8):
Mexico City, Mexico

Quoting N1120A (Reply 8):
Berlin, Germany

Quoting LY7E7 (Reply 14):
Warsaw, Poland

N1120 gave these as sister cities to L.A. and/or New Orleans. LY7E7 gave the last one as one to Tel Aviv. These, I believe, are also sister cities to Chicago that are listed on those banners that AR1300 mentioned.

According to Wikipedia, Raleigh NC is a sister city to Rostock Germany, Hull England, Kolomna Russia, and Compiègne France...though out of those 4 I had only ever heard of the affiliation with Rostock. Come to think of it, out of those 4 Rostock is the only city I've ever even heard of in the first place. Strange.

We have a 'Welcome To Sunderland' signpost and it gives the towns we are twinned with. Alternatively, look up your local authority website and it should beon there.

For Sacramento, California (where I live), the sister city is Jinan in Shangdong Province in China. I've seen recent pictures of that city and it is just amazing to see how it has changed since the first Sacramento delegation visited that city many years ago.  eek

I think Colorado ended up paying for that tea house anyway...not that it's not a great place to eat and of course have tea.
