ISP Who Would You Use?

Mon Apr 18, 2005 9:53 pm

OK people,

I am looking for a new ISP, that will not charge a lot of money for dial up. I know dial up is slower, but I am on a tight budget right now.

I had AOL, but we got tired of them and the cost. I am using the service from my local phone company, but it is still $27.00 a month.

Who would you recommend, must be U.S. Based.

If this was talked about before sorry I could not find any information.

Thanks for you time..........Sunking737

Knowing a little about internet access in the US, I would think if you post your location then people might be able to help. Geography is against you in this matter.

On our little rock in the North Sea it's not an issue, but in the USA it definitely is.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find my own way there...

If he can't afford $27/mo he probably can't afford $50 a month. I agree it sucks but I know some people who use dialup and it is better than nothing. The internet is quickly becoming something you can't live without.

Take a look at SBC-ahoo DSL. It is only $19.95/month. I don't know if it is available in your area, but it is definitely the least expensive high speed service around. Fair warning however, the price is supported by advertising, however it is a very small price to pay for high speed service.
It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

If you combine the cost of calls you will be surprised. We were spending about $100 per month all up on dial up. Since I switched to ADSL that has been reduced to $55 for the ISP fees only.

Try Netscape for $14.95 a month, with the highspeed software. Not a bad deal, if you ask me.

NetZero/Juno seem to have the best access numbers, actual speeds, and rates I've seen--they also offer the "high speed" options (not true high speed, partially load graphics but speeds up connection significantly) as well.
I got my head checked--by a jumbo jet

Thanks for all the input.

Yes, dial up sucks, We will be going to DSL by Sept. My oldest son will be working this summer, and is going to school for digital entertainment & gaming with online classes in Sept 05.

My wife just returned to work so money is t-i-g-h-t for another 60 days.
