I was born in Europe, lived in Japan for a few years, and moved here when I was 9. I still love Japan but I don't think you can live in Japan unless you are asian, the cultures are just extremely different. I am still able to talk Japanese but it is slowly going away. I want to perserve my Japanese and French languages because if I endup flying for the airlines, it might be beneficial.

I was born in Manchester, England in 1980 and in 2002 i moved to Canada.....i wouldn't live in the UK now if you paid me, but i still love England that's for sure. Just that here in Canada my standard of living is alot higher than it was in the UK. Not to mention that Canada is awesome!!

I was born in Miami, FL in 1943, but understand that is now a suburb of Havana (Habana). Don't know how that qualifies me.

But, me Dad was born in Glasgow and he immigrated to the United States LEGALLY, so I guess, I'm a second-generation immigrant. Me first daughter was born in Germany, too, so not specific to your topic question, I feel I'm somewhat associated with immigration. Regards...Jack

Born in 1980 in Sao Paulo, Brazil . My parents divorced when I was 3, my dad came to the United States in 1991 to get a PhD at the University of South Carolina. After 1991, I split my time between Columbia, SC and Brazil, until I permanently moved to Austin, TX (where my dad had found a teaching position at UT - Austin) in 1997. That's where I currently live and work at a call center, ran by the Evil HR Director, Dogbert. More migratin' is in the works as I'm going to either San Antonio or Eugene, OR this fall to finish a degree.

Born in Manchester UK. Extended family of 10 emigrated to Canada when I was 3yo. Currently live in YYZ.

Dual Canadian/UK citizenship. Extremely grateful my family left the UK for the much greener pastures in North America.

That's pretty cool, JetJack, my grandfather followed the exact same path you did. He was born in Pretoria in 1919, moved to Birmingham, UK at 15, and in 1937 immigrated to the United States.

For refugee status you need to fly as far as East Timor, then float across the Torres Strait in a biscuit tin. The Australian Navy will pick you up, slap you around a bit, and ship you to Nauru. Works every time !

Actually being more serious, I have actually lived and worked in Hungary for two years and studied at University in Berlin for a year.

Much of my family is scattered around the old Empire though - Southern Africa (Dad grew up in Zambia), Canada, New Zealand and Australia to name a few. A lot of Cornish people emigrated after the war to mining areas in these countries.
