Monster Raving Loony Party: 2005 Manicfesto!

Sat Apr 23, 2005 3:38 am

Hi there,

The "Monster Raving Loony Party" are a Party like Labour and Conservative.

Here is there 2005 Manicfesto, which is really funny, you should have a read here: http://www.omrlp.com/ The Manicfesto is highlighted about three quarters down the page!

I'll just remind that this Party is completely real, and you can vote for them I think!

Here's a selection of snippits!

"The Official Monster Raving Loony Party will not join the single European currency. We will invite all Europeans countries to JOIN THE POUND."

"Bright pupils will be provided with dimmer switches to prevent them distracting the rest of the class."

"We will replace the House of Lords with the House of Cards, to make it easier for the Government to deal with."

"4 wheel drive vehicles will only be allowed to drive off road, therefore stopping mothers picking up their children from school in them when they only live 100 yards down the road. They will also be wrapped in bubble wrap to make them safer."

"We will set up an enquiry to find out why there’s a Polar bear on Fox’s Glacier mints."

"In future the National Anthem will be ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ as sung by Morecambe and Wise. It is quicker, more tuneful and people know the words."

Some of it is very funny

What do you think?

Regards, Ryan

Of course, the Monster Raving Loony Party do have a genuine footnote in the history of British politics, not least by occasionally getting a councillor elected, but also because of the time they got more votes than the SDP in a by-election, thus finally finishing that party off.

It was also the MRLP who first proposed votes at 18 and all day pub licences, so watch out for what the mainstream parties have in their manifestos in 20 years time. Roll on Europe joining the pound!

I remember when the 'Loonies' were not the only ones taking the piss out of the election.
Anyone recall the count at Thatcher's seat in North London, (while she was still PM)?
One of the candidates was 'Lord Bucket-head' of the 'Gremloids' Party.
And there he was, amongst the candidates, including the PM, as the Returning Officer read out the number of votes cast and for whom, Lord Bucket-head. Complete with a bucket on his head.
