Recycling Batteries

Tue Apr 26, 2005 6:18 pm

As I am doing some tidying, I have discovered a few batteries that needed to be trashed.

Now, having a soft ecological spot, I brought all of them to work where we have a special container for batteries to be recycled.

So today, I put there 13 AA batteries, 2 AAA, and 2 9V.

What is going to happen with those ? What is the difference between this container and a standard bin ?

I think they are recycled in some way, or have the chemicals extracted from them and used for other things. Some batteries contain mercury, which is quite valuable.

I drop all my used batteries into special bins maintained by and organization which claims to be saving lives of apes. If my used batteries are going to help the monkeys, so be it. Big grin
Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience.
