Great taste there Superfly.... one of the best live shows I ever saw was a STYX concert. I had seats dead center, five or six rows off the stage. Damn they rocked, for over three hours, no opening act either.

My favourite rock at the moment is an Indonesian band called Padi.

You can listen to samples of some of their songs here;

http://www.disctarra.com/tarra/eshop_music_info.asp?product_id=19421

Unfortunately you can't listen to the sample of my favourite song on the album- Patah.

Call me old school but nothing tops The Beatles (for me, anyway).

Do rock/soul solo artists count as well?

But based on total CD's in my collection (5 CD minimum):

1. The Beatles/John, Paul, George & Ringo solo albums
2. Led Zeppelin
3. The Ramones
4. New Order
5. The Pet Shop Boys
6. Smokey Robinson/Smokey Robinson and the Miracles
7. Marvin Gaye
8. Gladys Knight & The Pips
9. The Rolling Stones
10. Donny Osmond/The Osmonds
11. The Clash
12. The Bee Gees
13. Sly and The Family Stone
14. Def Leppard
15. Aerosmith
16. Siouxsie and The Banshees
17. Duran Duran
18. Adam and The Ants/Adam Ant
19. Metallica
20. The Who
21. Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne
22. AC/DC
23. Green Day
24. The Everly Brothers
25. Van Halen
26. Dion/Dion and The Belmonts
27. Elvis
28. Diana Ross/The Supremes
29. Aretha Franklin

Left out country/standard singers...tried to keep it rock/soul.

My fav's a little quartet. BTW...McCartney still uses his 1963 Hofner violin bass (his 2nd one) today! The first one shown in the below photo was his first (a converted right hander).

Slipknot (I can sympathize with their lyrics; scary, eh?)
Pink Floyd
Metallica
Rush
old Billy Idol (minus the masturbating and sexual domination lyrics)
old Tower of Power (pre 1984)
Van Halen (Van Hagar is questionable)
Judis Priest
Metallica
Creed
Submersed

That's just the tip of the iceberg.
I don't know, so this is my signature.

Boston, Aerosmith, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, REM are all on my preferred playlist though.

I never heard of them until I saw a DVD that my cousin has and I must say they are very very good. But still not my favourite.

My Favourite, although I don't know if they are considered a rock band, is Simon And Garfunkel, I attended their Concert at NYC's Madison Square Garden in December 4, 2003.
