Is This Picture Artistic Enough?

Wed May 11, 2005 8:59 am

This is a pic I'm planning to enter a school photo contest. Is it artistic enough to convey anything? This pic taken from my balcony in Manhattan , New York. Taking pics of planes just aint artistic enough. It was not photoshopped or digitally enhanced in any way.All comments welcome.

well here it is oh and this is one of my first ever digital photos taken.

Submit it to the A.net photo screeners. They'll tell you if it's artistic enough...

It looks blurry, pixilated, and the lighting on the buildings is inconsistent. I'd bet $10,000.000 that what you ACTUALLY saw was spectacular, and if you could find a camera that REALLY works like your eyes do, you'd have captured something special, but this is just another hack (like me) trying to take an awesome shot with a marginal at best camera.

I'm saving up for an Olympus 770, should do a shot like this fairly well..

Then what's the pointy building? Looks like the PPG tower at Pittsburgh to me...

I hope that is not the original size. I see a lot of JPEG compression and jagged edges, and the quality isn't there. It is also bright enough to look odd as a silhouette, but dark enough to lose detail. Sorry for being honest, I've spent too much time in the photo forum.

I would browse the db and see for yourself. You'd be surprised.
