French A.netters, Are You Working On Monday?

Fri May 13, 2005 3:03 pm

So let's see where this issue is at presently - it appears that 68% of French people don't want to give up their Pentecote public holiday for some bogus solidarity excuse.

Shall (...) you be at work on Monday ?

Heard that same statistic on "France Info" this morning.

I don't really count as I'm self-employed. My wife, who works at Airbus, has been given the day off... but she has to work anyway as she's on a training course at the moment! So, i'll probably work as normal and have a look at a.net. Weather forecast is pretty bad as well!

Well, next monday, I am afraid I shall try to go to work.

My girlfriend, though, works for AF, and has been given the day off as if it was still a public holiday, but has a day off less in the rest of the year. Reason for that is that AF employees who used to work that day had a bonus for working on a public holiday and would lose this bonus if it was a normal day.

As for me I don't know how I shall go to work that day as there is a RATP (Paris Underground) strike that day. Yayers.

Cheers,

Surely the more accurate question is "French a.netters, are you on strike next week?" Big grin

I will be AT work. Whether I will be working or not, I have yet to decide. I think it's outrageous that bloody bone idle useless fonctionnaires including the bone idle moronic bloody government who voted in the stupid "jour de solidarité" with old people about whom quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn, get the f*#$ing day off, while us taxpaying private-sector employees get to work for free. I don't THINK so !!

And let us thank my former Archibishop, Cardinal JM Lustiger , former Archibishop of Paris who this time opened his big mouth once too much and said :

"Oh, if there is a Catholic celebration to remove, let it rather be Pentecost Monday"

Couldn't have he said that there were already so few religious holidays left in France ? Raffarin merely understood that the day in question could go without any problem...

Cheers,

This is all really ridiculous ... even more ridiculous how AirFrance crew members complain about this day.

I work for Air France ... in the UNITED STATES ... do you think I get this day off!?!?!?!??! HA!!!
