President Fox Criticized For Comment On Blacks

Mon May 16, 2005 12:34 am

I agree with what Presidente Fox said in regards to jobs in the U.S. As I have been saying over and over on here, people coming from my country are doing the jobs that neither white nor black people are willing to do.

"Fox was making the point that "Mexican migrants are making great contributions in the United States and that their role is a positive role."

I couldn't agree more.

"There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work, are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States."

That is the statement that Jackson is screaming about. Jackson went on to say that what the president said was a stereotype. Saying that the majority of poor Americans are not black but white. I really think that's not the point Fox was trying to get across. His point is that neither blacks nor whites are willing to do the jobs that Mexicans are. You and I know that is true because there are MANY jobs that are all done by mexican workers. In my opinion, Jackson is just waiting for anything to be said about blacks to attach himself like a leach to the story and make a big fuss about it. In reality, there were no stereotypical and/or racial comments about blacks made by Fox.

So, what are you thoughts on this issue?????

My thoughts are that too many people play the race card, both in the real world, and on a.net.

It won't go away, however, because it riles people up and makes a point.

"There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work, are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States."

I think this is indeed a racist comment. It doesn't only mean that

Quoting CORULEZ05 (Thread starter):
neither blacks nor whites are willing to do the jobs that Mexicans are

but also that blacks are supposed to be willing to do less qualified jobs than whites.

Fox is an idiot.

More deflection from his own internal morass of corruption. Mexico needs total reform so that there aren't as many illegals pouring across to begin with. Yet he continues to drive policy decisions in this country and Bush lets him. Unconscionable.  Sad

This is a story of two losers.

One, Fox is a corrupt mustachioed President of Mexico who continues to hamper meaningful border security problems and whose administration is corrupt to the core.

Jackson is a snake oil charmer par excellence! He is a publicity hound, narcissistic, charletan who looks out only for himself and how he can line his pockets.

His threats against corporations are nothing more than shakedowns so his associates and cronies get jobs/money.

What Fox said does ring a lot of truth, regardless of what Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition/PUSH Mafia has to say. So what you gonna do Jesse, boycott Mexico?

There are some statements that people get poked at just because it mentions the word "black" and putting them in a group. Example: Blacks have darker skin than whites. No sh*t really? Sometimes people tend to be over-PC. That being said, the above statement is racist pure and simple.

Yeah I guess someone had to take the jobs the SLAVES used to do.

A moronic statement. Mexicans are used to this kind of asinine outbursts from our President. If you think about it, Americans know very well what I'm talking about.

Fox is not the sharpest person, that's true. President Fox is not corrupt and he has worked tireless against the corruption left after 70 years of the PRI.

President Fox administration is one of the most honest and corruption-free Mexico has ever had. I know, O'Reilly tells you every evening that Fox is a corrupt leader because he doesn't send the army to close the border, thus stopping illegal immigration to the USA. What Mr. O'Reilly hasn't told you it's that would be against the Mexican constitution. Before making asinine statements, you should get your ignorant butt outside and learn by yourself.

People with "dignity" immigrate legally.

Well, President Bush IS a corrupt leader because he willingly refuses to secure our nation's borders, which is THE most important role of the Presidency, and it's one the he has abdicated.

Well, it is the truth, isn't it?

Mexicans do the kind of work that no one in this country wants to do, and as black Americans have made enormous strides, Mexicans have replaced blacks in the nation's most underappreciated and hated jobs.

And unless others are willing to do that kind of work, Mexican migrants, legal, illegal, or otherwise, have had a positive influence on this country.

Instead of engaging in obnoxious vitriol against Mexican migrants, try talking to the next Mexican (or any other Central American) worker you meet - in your office after hours as they clean up the trash left behind, at a fruit stand, or anywhere else - and learn a bit about their story.

It may make some of you a bit more human.

that is EXACTLY what I did. That is why I feel sooo strongly about this issue. I talked to several people at my school when sometimes we stayed late in class and they would come to clean up. Great stories and often times fearful of even discussing it because they are affraid of getting deported. If you heard some of their stories of families back home and what not, it is truly very sad and touching. I have talked to them so much that anytime they see me, we stop and talk. They have gone through a lot and even though they work their a$$ off, they STILL are living below decent living conditions.

Not assinine, accurate. Mexico is a horribly corrupt nation and Fox may be the lesser of two evils (sounds familiar, eh?) but true economic reforms are not happening as quickly as possible. BTW, I can't stand the little leprachaun O'Reilly, so don't generalize.

M comment was factual. Yours is bombast. Now we can have a discussion of the issues if you like, I would prefer it. Whaddya say?

Corruption has been a heavy burden for decades. No one on his right mind can't deny it. Nonetheless, I couldn't stand your post calling Fox a "corrupt mustachioed President of Mexico" because is inaccurate and offensive. He is not a corrupt politician, and even his opponents recognize that. About the "true economic reforms", you're partially right. Sadly, our Congress hasn't done its part and the whole country is paying the price for its shortcomings.

I agree with the both of you. Talk about a publicity pimp... ever pay attention to the fact that he came in on the Terry Schaivo case AFTER it became a media sensation? If he really cared about the people involved, why not try to help BEFORE the situation enters the spotlight? Couldn't get good PR in that case I guess.

Quoting Jaysit (Reply 11):

I'll agree with the LEGAL part. And taking something from this statement, whether you meant it or not, other people (white included) ARE willing to do whatever kind of work that most people aren't. But, if I read everything in this thread as fact, I would be led to believe the generalization that ONLY Mexican migrants take society's "unwanted" jobs.

White people seem to complain about the race card too much, if any kind of racism occurs people scream, "Oh they're just playing the race card again." It seems that white america has lost touch of how important race still is in this country.

That's not what he said. Fox stated that Mexicans are doing the jobs not even BLACKS want to do. That seems to imply that blacks are the only ones who should do them, or that blacks are lessor people, etc. If Fox had said blacks and whites it would've been different. That statement is racist, plain and simple.

And I'll again stand by my statement: Mexico is such a Charlie Foxtrot it's difficult to even convey.

He might not be corrupt, and I don't care what he's doing domestically. I just wish he'd shut up and quit trying to drive US policy in the forceful manner in which he's doing. And Bush is on his knees lapping it all up. Makes me sick.

I love when people loose the forest for one darn tree, It so easy to see the shortcomings of blindness...

The sad remarks spoken by president Fox, as always have been disected to the bone, at the end of day he refered that Mexicans that cross the border illegaly do the worst and lower wage jobs in the US, Do you find it like he is denigrating someone here? Do you think he is happy?.

Corruption is everywhere, just because Mexico is a well known corrupt goverment country doesnt make the corruption in Russia, China, Italy or the US go away (we dont own it). Do you think the Neocons in Washington in the Haliburton and the Enron cases are just MISSUNDERTANDINGS??

The world is a very complex place, for example China is one of the principal trade partners of the US, but guess what? there is no democracy there, Almost slavery is the norm there (why do you think you pay so many low prices for clothes, toys, shoes and a lot of stuff), why do you think there are like 15 to 20 million Mexicans in the US (because they pay them lower than a black a white or whatever) it boils down to one thing MONEY and that is corruption also, if those example were so bad the US would be:

Putting the national guard at the Mexican border and deport all Illegals.
Invade China to "export" democracy (like Iraq)....

Now wait.....[lmao] ....2 minutes [/lmao]

That wont happen because Too many profit from the illegal problem.
The US / Mexico international relations in these 4 years have been a nightmare, ever since Fox told Bush to take a hike in the Iraq fiasco, from that day it has been down hill.

If you DO NOT support opprsive and corrupt governments put your money where your mouth is:

Dont buy stuff made in China
Grow your own vegetables
Go to a restaurant that does not have Mexicans on the kitchen /bar or waitressing...IF you can find ONE!!!

Best Regards TRB
