Grattis Norge!!!!

You really know how to celebrate. I wish we could learn something here now when we have 6th of June as a free day, but I doubt it though.

Ha det!

18th today, but too busy to visit the web yesterday (of obvious reasons)  Wink

Nice to see the swedes start this thread btw.  bigthumbsup

For those who aren’t aware of it, Norway celebrate their national day on the 17th of may. During the day, virtiually ever area which is populated in the country, will have a parade of some sort. People dress up in the national costume, bands play, flags wave, and the students leaving upper secondary dress in red an celebrate the near end of 12 years education.

The celebrations took place all over Norway, and in fact all over the world. Some photos:

Firstly, and most appropriatly, the parade up Karl Johan st to the palace in Oslo.

Stockhom, Sweden.

Parade in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Kobe, Japan.

Perth, Australia.

Madison, Wisconsin USA.

Antarctica.

Here the mini submarine at an Offshore location in the North Sea, is parading through the muddy water 376 meters deep.

And finally, beleive it or not, even the Warcraft characters walked in a parade yesterday. Big grin

So I dare say we sure know how to throw a celebration for our motherland.  Wink

I thought the commentary by Swedish TV4 was quite funny during the report from Oslo.

"There are only 4,5 million people in Nowray, but they must be going in circles around the palace" -Commentating on the amount of people parading.

A swedish reporter also wanted to see what reaction he'd get if he waved the old union flag outside the palace. Nobody noticed it though.  Smile
