Interesting. So will old Jacques follow?

Don't get too much overenthusiastic. He has resigned already 3 times, and Chirhaac has refused the demission each time.

Though today, I think we finally shall (les eaux) indeed have a new French Prime minister.

3 possible names apparently :

Dominique de Villepin (was French foreign secretary during the Iraki French/US crisis last year, current Interior Minister)
Michelle Alliot-Marie (former head of the UMP, current Defense Minister)
Nicolas Sarkozy (former Interior Minister/Finances Minister later on, currently head of the UMP)

Cheers,

Don't worry, it appears he will take back his old seat at the Ministère de l'Intérieur.

Cheers,

Rah - good riddance to the pitiful Raffarin, he was a lemon. I quite like Dominique Le Grille-Pain, he seems fairly civilised and non-fascist. Yar boo sucks to Nicolas "Je veux qu'on m'appelles Napoleon" Sarkozy, back as the Minister of the Interior - let's hope he screws up big time and gets fired.

Nicholas Napoleon Sarkozy was no candidate for this function which looks very much like an ejection seat with a time-out timer running for max short 2 years, but he can further polish his trademark no non-sense political sharpness in the Interior Ministry. Prepare the posters for 2007 !
And yes, he has quite a few things in common with the Greatest of the Emperors though he has to work harder on the belly and he lacks a little bit of grease.  Wink

Dom Grille-Pain de la Roche Feuilletee is a smart and eminently talented guy.
Expect him to put France back on course in Brussels sooner than later.
