Do You Do Anything For Your Parents' Anniversary?

Sat Jun 04, 2005 2:28 am

Coming up soon is my parents' 30th wedding anniversary...I know that my mom has already planned a surprise for my dad, but I don't know whether or not I should do anything for them? I was born 10 years after they were married, so Im not sure what the proper thing to do is? Do you celebrate your parents' anniversaries?

I always get them something. For special dates like a 30th, I took them out to a nice restaurant with a couple gifts. I would have done a party, but they are not into that.

Just recently my parents celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, they flew to Ireland for the weekend leaving me in charge of the property with my 14 year old sister.

I had fellow airnetter Myt332 down to stay. We went out, had a few drinks, met some ladies, ate Indian food till our bodies couldn't take it, and generally chilled out!

So in answer to the question, we don't do anything together.  Smile

You congratulate them, buy them a card, send them out to dinner on you, and thank them again for all that room and board they supplied you with.

Other than that, stay out of the house to avoid any possibility of permanent emotional scarring by an inadvertent glimpse of any possible celebrations going on within the parental home.

Same, not that I would do anything anyway
We're gonna do what we like to call a "jetBlue how do you do", which is slang for dumping a bunch of fuel in the ocean

of course you should do something for their anniversary. You have to thank them for hooking up and thank your dad for banging your mother which resulted in having you....  Silly

On a serious note, you should get them matching watches and have their names and 30th anniversary engraved on them somewhere....that would be cool! Reminds me of what my dad gave my mom on their 25th anniversary which was unfortunately their last....he bought her a diamond necklace, bracelet, earring and ring set all together totally 25 carats of bling bling...a carat for each year of her putting up with him as he put it....ahh, the memories...  crying

Nope it is their time...

Hell i do not even know how many years they have been married....

Oh yeah I also really do not like them all that much so I am not going to bother to find out...

Sometimes all you can do is look them in the eye and ask " how much did your mom drink when she was pregnant with you?"

My parent's 35th is coming up in a few weeks. I am kind of at a loss as to what to do, beyond the happy anniversary phone call. There are several things that if I were in there position I would like very much, but they are not like me.

My parents had their 30th anniversary in February this year and my brothers and I got together and arranged a huge bash for them.

We had about 200 people, food, drinks and wine, live music, printed invitations and everything. The last guests left after 3 in the morning. We pulled out all stops and everyone had a really great time.

Except me, because I was in charge of the booze (big mistake!) and I got really drunk really fast and I don't remember much of the evening. But I do remember puking a lot.
