Airline Pilots Should Never Record An Album

Tue Jun 07, 2005 11:54 pm

I guess things can get really ugly when an airline pilot gets furloughed.
I found this record in the bargain bin for $2.
I had to buy it for obvious reasons. If for no other reason, the Concorde. Anyhow, I played this record at home and it sounds awful!
As if the album title isn’t cheesy enough, the music is very generic. This Jon Astley guy does a mixture of glam metal, cheap blues and tries to sound like a sex God of some sort. Not sure if Jon Astley is related to Rick Astley. They are both from the U.K. and recorded around the same time Rick Astley was popular.
This album came out in 1987.

Anyone else heard of this guy?

If it sounds anything like Rick Astley, I wouldn't even wipe my butt with it.

Well I'm from the UK and I've never heard of him.....

Being famous for even less time than Rick Astley is quite an achievement though....

Actually, Heinz or some big ketchup company used that song "Jane's Getting Serious" as the soundtrack for one of their commercials.

Damn, I wasn't quick enough with the "Rick Astley" joke....

Yeah, I remember that...not a sign of a good campaign when consumers can't remember the product, however...

On a side note, wonder if those America West pilots will be recording an album?

"Drinking Tunes, to Fly To"?
"Champaign Cockpit Music"?

You mean you don't like Rick Astley?  Wow!
He's got more soul than all those Motown guys put together!

I am being totally being sarcastic now!  Wink

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna turn around
and hurt you

Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna SAY goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie
and hurt you

He sounds more like Cory Hart or John Parr but not as good.

Rico Suave didn't last very long either.

That's scarry you know this.
I showed this to a friend of mine and he remembers the video to that song.
From what I've been told, in the video he crashes his plane in to a jungle and all the women in the jungle are trying to rip off his pilot uniform.
