Where You Going On Holiday/vacation?

Wed Jun 08, 2005 3:51 am

Hey,

Just outta boredom and curiousity. Where are you all going on holiday this year if any? Anywhere exotic, and what airlines you using to get there?

Here's mine:

18th June 2005
BA 2931 EDI - LGW Boeing 733

Then on to Southampton to catch Legend of The Seas for a med cruise.

Coming back:

2nd July 2005
BA 2942 LGW - EDI Boeing 734

Boring aircraft but at least i get to fly on my birthday  Big grin

How about you all?

Have great holidays/vacations in advance!

Niagara Falls, Ontario by car, which, if you can believe it, I prefer to flying! To paraphrase Groucho, I wouldn't fly in any airplane that would have me at the controls. But I love long distance driving.

In September we plan to fly to Vancouver, most likely on an AC A319/20/21.

My upcoming summer vacations:

June 24th
Seattle, WA.
Flying United Express/United. MDT-ORD-SEA
ERJ-145 MDT-ORD, B757-200 ORD-SEA

Same in reverse

Touring Boeing Factory in Everett, Museum of Flight at BFI, and all the usual sights in Seattle.

Other than trips to the beach, Ocean City MD, Rehobeth Beach Del, the Seattle trip is my only scheduled flying holiday.

My In-Laws rent a condo on the beach, and they, my family, and my brother-in-laws family all go for a week. Because of my work, I just stay for an odd day or two.

So my vacation, is the fact I have the whole house and pool to myself for a week!

On July 11-15 I am flying jetBlue from JFK-FLL-JFK.

I am glad to go down to Florida, but it is so hot in NYC (In the mid 80's today) I can only wonder what South FLorida is like. I am going to my grandparents house (alone!) and I get to go to Golf Camp down there!

Can't wait.

Returning September 14th, DL 757 SLC-ATL, then DL 767 ATL-LGW followed by boring old BA4326, BAe146 LGW-IOM

Mini holiday in AMS before that - June 29th-1st July, on my own, spotting!!

I'm spending a week in South Africa, and I'm leaving tomorrow - flying SAA (A340-600, B737-800) to Cape Town via Johannesburg, and Thursday next week I'll be flying the same route back, that time on an A319 and A340-600.

Might also make one or two other trips this year - but haven't fixed any of those yet.

Going to SEA in September (still don't know the exact dates). Will most probably be flying QF, ADL-SYD-LAX-SEA, the same route back. Looking forward to that Big grin

Also, going to New Zealand next month (just for 5 days, to AKL, visiting friends). Will be flying QF B738 to SYD then a 763 to AKL I guess....

Early plans for our summer holidays will see us leave SYD on 27/28 Dec for VIE, most likely flying QF(B743) to NRT then SK Business class to CPH(A343) & VIE(MD87?). Then a 10 day bus tour to BUD, PRG, WAW, Berlin, MUC & back to VIE. Then off to VCE & the Vento, most likley by train, for 10 days to visit wifes relatives, then to MXP to CPH SK (MD87?), then SK (A343) to NRT, a coupla days in Toyko, then home on QF (B743) about 23 Jan for back to work on 27 Jan.

Routing may change but SKs mixed class fare looks like it will win again!

Tomorrow !!!

To NYC with my partner and two friends. Will be flying AA 777-200 LHR-JFK and return.

Still planning our holidays for later in the year. Maybe to Cyprus when we get the bathroom re-built (with a quick trip to Egypt on the boat from Limassol?).

Possibly LA to visit friends at the end of the year and perhaps drive up the coast to San Fran.

More likely is that I will tack a few days leisure on to my long delayed work trip to South Africa next month (it was going to be March, then April, etc, etc). As it seems work will take me to JNB, CPT and DUR, it'd be rude not to see afew things while I'm there. Also the clinet loves me lots and wants to arrange loads of leisure trips for me  Smile
If so it'll be a SAA 747-400 out of LHR and then various SAA A320s/737s between the cities once there I guess.

Living in Milan, I'm very close to the Mediterranean where our family has a small summer flat, so we go there most weekends. There is no reason to fly although it would be possible I guess, but it would mean flying into Nice and driving or training back to our place in Italy, back over the border. That would be silly, so we just drive. It takes three or four hours depending on traffic.

Coffs Harbour on a mileage run. I could think of better things to do.

As it is winter in the southern hermisphere, I am going snowboarding from 14 August to 19 August in Victoria. Flying Qantas.

September 30 flying Air NZ to the USA and return Oct 17.
The US trip will include Florida, St Louis and Las Vegas, maybe Washington DC.

New Zealand has just had a holiday (Queens Birthday, monday 6th) 3 day weekend, so I took the friday off work and headed to Taupo and Rotorua by car for the long weekend.

Next holiday will be in July will be 'up the road' to Palmerston North and then onto the Hawkes Bay. Again by car

After that flying Freedom Air (SJ) from WLG-OOG. Then OOG to either SYD or MEL then fly back to either CHC or Palmerston North again on Freedom Air. This Australian holiday is because I won a return trip to any Australian port on Freedom Air  Smile

I'm not 100% sure on how I am going to get there at the moment. One of my options is to fly down to Challes-les-Eaux itself with Ben in his TB-10 although we haven't arranged that yet so who knows.

If the private flying thing doesn't happen then I'll defiantly fly commercially to GVA and take then train with you and Jer. Cheers for the offer as I wasn't really too keen on getting the train on my own. Too boring plus I'd probably get lost!  Wink

This year, it will just be to Chicago with my aunt and uncle next weekend (taking Friday and Monday off) and then to San Francisco to see my sister over the 4th of July.

I just started working for a bank, so I have to be out 5 consecutive business days to help guard against fraud. Not that I'm dumb enough to do anything, but it's the law. So, with that in mind, I'll probably take time off over Christmas and head to the PDX area and spend time with family.

Alex,

Drop me an eMail when you will not fly with Ben.

My latest plans are as follows:

- Flying down to GVA on Friday
- Staying at a hotel near GVA airport for the night (incl. heavy drinking in the evening)
- Meeting with Jer (and everyone else who is traveling from GVA) on Saturday
- Taking together the train to CMF

I will try to get a return flight in the late evening of Sunday, unfortunately I can't book anything right now, I want to book these flights as a Shithansa Miles & Less award and their "Fly smart" flights are only bookable two weeks before the travel date.

We're going to Nassau, The Bahamas from 7/4-7/9. My wife and I, stepson and his girlfriend, oldest stepdaughter and her boyfriend, youngest stepdaughter and her best friend. I was looking forward to it but the closer it
gets, the less I am. We've warned the older ones (they're aged 18-22) that we will not babysit them if they drink too much or are hungover and warned the younger ones (aged 16) they are NOT to leave the hotel grounds for any reason nor are they to drink any alcohol (drinking age is rarely enforced) or their vacation in paradise will turn into a vacation in hell very quickly.

-Edinburgh for the day with a friend (not exactly a vacation!)
-Hilton Head Resort, SC with my girlfriend in mid August
-Spending Xmas in the UK...yes that will be a vacation since I'm moving to the US...
-South Africa in February

Probably going to Rome with my mother in the next month, when she decides where she wants to go. Will probably book a few spur of the moment detours as well...

Just got back from my latest having spent a few days in Menorca. (Flew LHR-BCN-MAH-BCN-LHR) My Grandparents own a villa on the island, under one of the approaches to MAH, so I can go over whenever I want really. Nothing beats floating in the pool with a cold beer and binoculars watching the planes go over bigthumbsup

Next trip is likely to be in three weeks time once my exams are over, from LHR again with BA/IB and a mix of 767, MD88, MD87, A320, ATR72 for a week. However I am still contemplating taking the ferry from Plymouth and Cycling through Spain to Barcelona then getting another ferry to Mahon. Then a few days later (after school prom) I am flying back out from BRS with Easyjet and then on to MAH from BCN with Vueling, returning with Air Nostrum direct from MAH-LGW on the 14th July along with family so I can help with luggage.

Likely to take several more trips over there this summer, if anyone is going to be there drop me a line and we can meet up at MAH.
