I Walked Into The Bathroom And Said: What Is This?

Wed Jun 08, 2005 10:40 am

Ever since I was a little kid I went into bathroom and found out some strange object which up to date is still a mystery for me. And its this:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y274/theaviator/Brazil.jpg

Right now I'm in my cousins house and I share the bathroom with my cousin. So everytime I go in I find this strange object besides the toilets again and I always wonder what the hell is it. A few moments ago I decided I have to leave this subject to you a.net experts full of world knowledge  Wink haha

As you can see, my cousin uses it to put books on it.

Any comments?

Yes it is a bidet, on another note I think it might be time for a new roll.

It's called a boday (spelling?). It's used for hygene/cleanliness purposes after using the toilet.

KLM685, maybe you are too young to know it, but even if bidets are not very common in Mexico, they are always present in some "special" hotels, the ones you use for two hours or even less. They come very handy for cleaning purposes.

That would not even be enough time to get the water temp from the bidet nice and comfy

That's where (remenants of someone's) waste goes, doesn't it? Kinda same as the toilet's flush system.

An interesting note: Bidets are very common in Japan, alongside with all the electronic systems that make up a toilet, or even a cubicle.

An important user of bidets are prostitutes for obious reasons. Sometimes they are called a duche (sp?). They became popular in the time before toilet paper became common and one needed to clean after a bowel movement or to 'freshen up' your crotch and rectal area after a long ride on a horse, a carriage or train and didn't want to take a full bath. Just for wash the 'naughty bits'. I have seen them a few times and have actually used one at a hotel in Milano, Italy.

Yes those toilets/bidets are very elaborate, with seat warmers and "multidirectional" built in bidets. They also make cool fountain displays! Big grin

I find bidets a bit weird though-- after cleaning you still have to wipe you a$$ dry! Frankly too much work for me!  Wink

At the Rome Marriott they carefully explain to Americans that the bidet is not for doing that sort of thing because apparently people are that stupid.

Yeah that's a bidet.

Some people use that to "wash" themselves after using the normal toilet paper.

Others (like me Big grin) opt for wet wipes, after the usual toilet paper.

Then there are some who only use toilet paper.

Some of my female friends told me it works wonders if the jet is powerful enough and you sit the other way around  Wink

Ahh yes, the common belief of 1980's British tourists! Big grin

Oh and what do you all think about those toilets in Turkey? You know, instead of having a bidet they have just installed a small pipe inside the toilet near the rim that is connected to a tap on the side of the bowl.

I tried using one a few years ago with interesting results. The 'pipe' wasn't aimed correctly so quite astonishingly the water just shot up between my legs and hit the ceiling. I nearly pissed myself laughing although it wouldn't have mattered as I was on the toilet already.  Wink

When I'm abroad now I just use TP or sometimes Kandoo's if they are around for the lil kids. They rock! Big grin

I remember that a buddy had a big party in his parents' house long time ago, some retards used the bidet to piss and puke into it, he was not amused about it. A few weeks later I had a party in my parents' house but I wrote on a piece of paper in big letters "DO NOT PISS OR PUKE INTO THIS!" and it worked, it was still perfectly clean after the party.
