Michelin Not The Only One With Problems..

Tue Jul 19, 2005 11:04 pm

After watching Nascar (wich i usually don't watch) this weekend i saw that the Goodyear tires also have major problems... lots of cars wich had to leave the race because of flat tires, but with a much lower speed than in the F1...

how does it come that the americans only complain about F1 when they have a problem for once, but when Nascar has a problem nobody say's anything about it.....

please explain

Goodyear is an exclusive supplier of tires to NASCAR upper levels. NASCAR mandated slight changes in tires to reduce speeds, and this has meant higher rates of tire failures on high speed tracks that are hard on tires. There has been an increasing rate of tire problems and failures this summer as the temps are at their peak levels. NASCAR allows virtually unlimited tire changes, with most drivers changing tires 2-3 times a race, depending on the length. NASCAR also mandates special safety tires systems, with inner 'tires' on the inside of the wheel in case of a blowout or damaged tire. NASCAR is already working with Goodyear trying to resolve the higher tire failure rates for the safety of the drivers. Also, all but 2 of the top level Nextel Cup races are held on 'oval' tracks, but even those tracks vary as to banking, angle of turns, length of straights, overall track length, acheivable top speeds. Two races are held on road tracks in Califronia and Watkins Glen, New York.

Goodyear owns the market so there is no push to innovate in NASCAR. Hell, if someone came up with something new NASCAR would probably outlaw it the next race.

Also, a tire failure on one of those cars at top speed is a hell of a lot less critical than a tire failure on an F1 car..

I would probably have to actually watch NASCAR or give a damn about the outcome of a race to be pissed off over tire failures. There would be a huge uproar if Goodyear ever had most of the field for a race pulled from the race because of their tire issues.
Things were better when it was two guys in a dorm room.

because the USA watches Nascar every weekend, and they had 1 honest problem, and F-1 did a pathetic job letting only 6 cars to race.
Also, F-1 is getting too pathetic with it´s policys, no tire change, not this, no that....bla bla bla....too much for fans, sometime people get enough.

thats why its harder to make a good F1 tire...

so you let people drive 340 km/h + with the fact that they could blow a tire anytime and hitting a wall with that speed?

again a prove that youre brains aren't at the place they should be
