Tattos, What About It?

Tue Jul 19, 2005 11:45 pm

I was wondering your views onTatoos.
Had the 2nd date with a girl last night, and found out that she has not 1, but 5 Tatoos, and all of them are diferent, from a Mayan Sun on her back, to a litle rose on anckle. They all look nice, nice work, bur I thinking it´s too many, maybe 1 was fine....
I don´t have any, mostly cause I never found out a draw or symbol or whatever I would like to carry for the rest of my life with me.

You guys have tatoos?what your view on that?

Can't stand 'em. For me, it's a turn off. I thought Rachel Hunter was pretty hot, 'till I saw her on TV with tat's.... EEch!

And am I alone in getting tired of seeing tatoo's on womens backs that appear just above the waist line of jeans? There was the incredibly beautiful woman, ahead of me in a store the other day, who I'd have seriously dropped everything and run away with, if she'd asked me. (Chance of Happening: 0%) She then bent down to get something out of her cart, and out pops this tatoo. AAArrrggghhhhh!!!!!!

I must be getting old.

Ahhh, don´t say that man, off course she´ll never look at you and say let´s have brutal sex, life isn´t a porn movie. Maybe you have to come up with a different aproach. Remember, looks are for one night stand, the person is for a lifetime stand.  Wink

It a girl has a small tattoo that is meaningful to her, that's cool.

On the other hand, those idiots with butterflies on their back or the "tribal band" or "Japanese letter" tattoos should be publicly shot.

A tattoo should be something unique and meaningful, not a whoring technique.

Indeed! My 11 year old daughter expressed an interest in some tatoo a person was wearing while we were shopping. It was some freakish full arm tatoo of dragons. The woman who had it was sporting a few more on her exposed skin. (God knows what was going on w/her UN-exposed flesh) You just wanna ask those folks "Why?!?!?!" when you see it.

Ahh, tattoos.

I love it when you see people with their arm covered in a sleeve of ink/art!

One of the most successful people I know from my high school class is a tattoo artist in US Virgin Islands. His arms, neck, (I don’t know what else), etc is covered.

In HS, he was most likely to wind up in prison.

But I say he is successful, because he is living in paradise, running his own show, doing what he enjoys. Beats the heck outta being a CPA chasing a dime getting frustrated in suburbia traffic.

What you think looks good when you're 20 will be really hilarious when your skin sags at 70. I have seen far too many saggy tattoos at the hospital. It's also hard to take someone seriously at work when they have multiple visible tattoos. Think before you ink!

The human expression is indeed a hard thing to understand.
I can´t judge anybody about it´s tatoos, but sometime I think it´s too much.
But one thing cracks me up.
For instance, in New Zealand you have the Maoris, wich are the original population of New Zealand, and they tatooed their faces as a sign of war, belief etc etc, but, MikeTyson to tatoo his face it´s just too much. Does he have a Maori heritage?is he a Maori fighter?Maro whatever? then why did he do that...

that´s pretty much what I think, but then again, taste is taste, each one has it´s own

Sounds like she has the classic tramp stamp (lower back) and a few others.

She should be pretty easy.. so get in, screw like mad for a few weeks.. then get the hell out.. shes gonna look like hell when she gets older.

I know a lot a people who have them.
One, a little overboard, has them up and
down his arm,now regrets it.Its preventing
him getting a couple of jobs,he said.
Itching is also a problem, needs some
solution to deter it, otherwise, you could
get blood poison.

Myself,I feel it's a turn-off.

I find tattoos really disgusting on men and women, as also piercings are. I never wanted to have a girl friend with tattoos or piercings. That's self mutilation.

I feel that tatoos are sometimes cliche, but I have a very wonderful friend (a gorgeous female) who has a very sexy tatoo of a dragon and some other shenanigans on her lower back. I have no particular issue with this, although I'd never do it. I would, however, love to see hers waggle back and forth as I jiggied it.

But, that's another thread.  tongue

I've got a Bacardi bat on my back. I have a thing for bats, I love to fly and I'm a night person, so it kinda suits me. I chose the Bacardi style, cause it's not too simple and not too aggresive.

If a tattoo is the right size and it suits the person, I think it's great, adds a bit of character. But I know some people who have several, low-quality tat's and it just looks horrible.

(*%$?(&)((*%$$&?$(?*

I can not find the pic of my tattoo I just got!!! I was going to post a funny caption, but I can not find that pic! I thought it was on photobucket.com but it is not there! (*&#?*&$?(@#)(*!!!

Short answer: as long as the person is not doing it because everyone else is, who cares? I have two Korean charicters (North Star), the Maple Leaf, Batz Maru and the Canucks second logo. Why? They mean something to me. If I want to show them off, you have to really get to know me or buy me at least three White Russians....

ArmitageShanks, I agree with you 100%. I have a tattoo and didn't get it until about 8 years ago. For me it was something I'd always wanted and finally got one. It is very meaningful to me and not in a location that anyone else can see.

As far as seeing guys with tattoos as long as they are tastefully done, I think that there is nothing wrong with them.

You mean a heart on a brawny arm with "MAMA" written in it? Or I love you forevery, with the names of several cancelled out female names beneath it? Big grin

Seriously, years ago I had a friend, who used to be in has young years Northern German Champion in Karate. During this time he had a karate fist tattooed to his right forarm. He told me that later he had a big problem with this tattoo. Almost every time he went into a pub wearing a short sleeved shirt, just to have some quite pints, some idiot would see the tattoo and try to pick a fight with him, just to see if he really knew how to fight. The idiot would usually regret it, but my friend would get into trouble with the police, until he was cleared by witnesses that he didn't start the fights.
He could only go to such a place with the tattoo covered and wished that he could have had it removed.

Another, but funny one:
Former colleagues from the time when I was working as builder as university student told me that one day they got quite drunk and ended up in a tattoo shop. There they had the guy tattoo a washing machine on the shoulder of one of their even more drunk friends. When he woke up next morning, not just with a hangover but also with a washing machine tattooed on his arm, he got fighting mad and wanted to kill his colleagues.

HOUSTON CHRONICLE
THU 07/28/05

A UNIFORM POLICY / HPD officers' tattoos are going undercover

By PEGGY O'HARE

Self-expression may come at a price for Houston police officers who have tattoos or body art, even if such renderings barely drew a notice in the past.

Starting Jan. 1, Houston Police Department officers will not be allowed to display visible tattoos or body art while on duty or wearing a department-approved uniform.

Forget about a temporary fix, such as a bandage or sweatband. Officers can cover their artwork only with their official police uniform, special assignment uniform or plain clothes.

That means officers with tattoos on their forearms must wear long sleeves year-round or have the artwork removed by a laser - an expensive and time-consuming procedure. Likewise, bicycle patrol officers with tattoos on their lower legs will have to wear long pants in the summer if they don't wish to permanently erase the ink from their skin.

Police Chief Harold Hurtt said he imposed the new rule to ensure HPD officers present a professional image when interacting with the public.

"Over the course of my career, I've seen some pretty questionable tattoos officers have," Hurtt explained last week.

Hurtt, however, did not attribute the new regulation to any specific complaints or problematic tattoos he has seen here.

The restriction will not apply to undercover officers as long as they are acting in an undercover capacity.

The change is part of the Police Department's new appearance and grooming policy, which also will prohibit uniformed officers from having beards or goatees. That planned change was made to protect officers who have to wear breathing masks when responding to chemical or biological emergencies, HPD officials said.

I have a dragon on the outside of my upper right ankle. He is clutching a B-52 in his talons. This was a nose art from a B-52 that I had um, special, ties to.
Ship #60-0010 to be exact  Smile
I got it a few years ago after a good 10 years of deliberation over it. I adored it for the 1st year or so. Now, I dont know about it. At the time I got it I was going thru a phase in my life where I was basically out of my mind and not myself. Something just snapped in my head and I literally lost it. I recently found out my parents were on the verge of having me committed. That's a whole other story though and it was several years ago. All is cool now.
Anyways, on with the tattoo story. The tattoo is not me and I bounce between trying to cover it up and sometimes not giving a damn who see's it.
I think it get's me the most when I am at work (WN customer service agent) and catch passengers looking at it and then looking at me. I feel like I am being judged. In a bad way.
My dragon will be with me for life however and I just need to learn to make peace with him I suppose. His name is Smaug (pronounced smog) BTW. The nose art was called Smaug's Revenge  Smile
