Best Cup Of Coffee

Thu Jul 28, 2005 11:25 pm

I am not much of a coffee drinker, but when I am out traveling for business or whereever it is prepared properly (not the instant crap) I always enjoy a cup or two.

Where IYHO is the best cup of coffee. And by coffee I don't mean lattes, mochas, cappucinos, expressos, anything with whipped cream on it, or caramel drizzled on it. I mean a cup of regular old coffee... with or with cream, sugar, etc....

My two picks:

Waffle House. And it just costs $1.10 with unlimited refills.

Timmy's. Not really sure what makes it good, but there is just something about it.

The TEA however at CAFE NEROS is great
Milk, and 2 sugars (down from 4) stirred well, is very nice
Where does the time go???

Every morning, large Tim Horton's, 2 sweetner, 1 and a half cream .. YUM!

I've heard they put all sorts of chemicals in their coffee to give it that "special" taste, including loads of nicotine to make it rather addictive... true? don't know, but wouldn't put it past them.. after all, they're owned by Wendy's now, and we all know how good fast food chains are at keeping their foods healthy! LOL

Mc Donalds is good so far as I'm concerned with 'regular' coffee. IHOP is ok, Denny's usually sucks.

But nothing beat an expresso served by a genuine Cuban ex-patriot In most Cuban restaurants in Miami.  thumbsup

Coffee with cream and sugar is a milkshake.
Adults don't put cream and sugar in their coffee!
It would be like drinking beer and soda. If you need to cut it, you are not ready to drink it.

Best chain restaurant regular coffee without a doubt - Cracker Barrel.
Waffle House is not bad, but grits make coffee taste better anyway.

I didn't think so either, guess it was nothing more than an urban legend... regardless though, their coffee is pretty addictive period! I like the fact that they make it for you... instead of having to put your own sweetner and cream.. I know it's not a big deal, but at 6am, it's nice to just pop the lid, and drink, you know?

I like Kenjara coffee at home, but if I'm out and about Waffle House gets my vote.

Dunkin' Donuts is my pick...I even buy the beans so I'll always have it at home

Funny how coffee is now more part of their "brand" than their donuts are!

Maragogype (Arabica from Mexico-Nicaragua)
Colombia Supreme
Sabor de Segovia (Nicaragua)
Santos Supreme (Brazil)
some excellent stuff from Northern Tanzania (Kilimandjaro slopes)

What most here are naming are mixtures (blendings) sold under the outlet name, not a coffee per se.

I think Starbuck's. Yes they do have lattes and expressos, etc, but they do serve regular coffee too.

Tim Horton's...and yes, I am addicted to it.
When I came home from my last vacation, I had the airport limo driver go through the drive-thru for my 'double-double'.

Actually, it is Caffe Nero, and that is my favorite coffee chain in the world (yes, I do get cappucinos there)

As far as a cup of filtered coffee, I prefer when my mom or I make it at my parent's house, and certainly cannot stand coffee at most US restaurants (as my grandmother called it after moving from France, piss du chat). I love the coffee at a little coffee shop in Orpington, which is in the far southeast part of Greater London. Also, Rue de la Course, a small New Orleans Area chain, makes some amazing filtered blends. Beyond that, Whole Foods Market almost always has something that tantilizes my taste buds and is also cheap at $0.99. Finally, some of my favorite commercial coffee is to be had on an airline. Lufthansa has some of the best coffee around, and I order it on most flights.

Like many of my coffee-addicted compatriots, Tim's does it for me. It's the only coffee I drink. I'm so lucky to live in a city where there are Tim Hortons every few blocks!

When I do my own coffee I HAVE to use a French press. The best cups of coffee I've had are brewed using French presses.
