MLB Trade Dead Line 1500EST

Sat Jul 30, 2005 5:28 am

With the Major League Baseball trade dead line this Sunday, who do you think will find themselves on a new team for the fall run..? As a life long Red Sox fan I've read Manny Ramirez would like to be traded and actually with his defensive skills I'd buy him the bus ticket. But here is the question...The dead line is at 3pmEST on Sunday...right in the middle of many scheduled games. If someone is traded last minute, do they walk off the field, finish the inning, finish the game...?

If a team believes they are going to trade a player, they will often sit that player out for the game and allow him to have contact with his current team, his agent, and his future team as soon as the trade happens. Occassionally, if the trade is unexpected, the player will finish the game and be told after the game. They rarely come out of the middle of games.

Manny requested a trade from Boston a few days ago(it happens at least once per year and he usually forgets he said it a few days later) because he wants more privacy after a Boston Herald reporter asked if his wife was pregnant. Rumors have it that Manny could be going to the Mets by Sunday in a three-team deal. Where better to live a private life than in the Big Apple Wink

Mets get: Manny Ramirez, Danys Baez

Red Sox get: Mike Cameron, Aubrey Huff

Devil Rays get: prospects from Mets, Sox

I'd hate to see Manny go due to his offense. His attitude is starting to piss off everyone including his fellow players who are admitting that to the media.

Yes, one never knows what goes on in that head of his.  crazy

And, his offense is second to none. Personally, I wish he'd suck up and deal. I'd like to see him retire as a Red Sock. Despite his foibles, he is the best hitter in baseball.

That said, I don't know about Cameron, but Aubrey Huff would dent the LF wall at Fenway enough for my taste.

I think the Sox have a few big ones up their sleeve that we don't know about.

According to the Mets website forums the prospects from the Mets would probably be Lastings Milledge and Yusmeiro Petit.

Those same two prospects plus Mike Cameron are being discussed in a possible Mets trade with the Rangers for Alfonso Soriano and Adrian Gonzalez.

If that deal happens, look for the Rangers to discuss David Delucci with the Cards and Yanks. Moving Soriano might make sense if we can extract enough talent for him. Ian Kinsler, his replacement, has Buck's stamp of approval, so he will be untouchable for the next year or so. Of course, what we would really like to do is trade off Richard Hidalgo as well to be completely rid of his low average and mediocre defense.

Stupid move - both are too good to give away. Milledge was an excellent outfielder and hitter and Petit simply dominated the competition while he was in Columbia.

Rangers and Padres have worked out a deal: Chan Ho Park for Phil Nevin! Just waiting Nevin's approval! Go Rangers!

I thought they had longer than Sunday night to make deals.

The Manny deal was rediculious. Since he signed with the BoSox he's asked 3 out of 4 years of a trade. (Sighting not enough off field privacy, he thinks NYC is gonna give some privacy?)

I wish the Astros would spend a little money and get Adam Dunn (Houston native) from the Reds.

Regards.

Good news! Nevin does not have to approve the trade! Texas is not one of the teams in his limited no trade clause! Just up to the Commissioner's office now

I was pissed to hear Texas may deal off Park, but I didn't hear that they would get Nevin...Good move!
