Well, those people up in FAI ARE kind diff'rent . . .

In Fairbanks it is considered an offense to feed alcoholic beverages to a moose.

And . . .

While it is legal to shoot bears, waking a sleeping bear for the purpose of taking a photograph is prohibited.

Not only is it still illegal, it's still very STUPID!!!

"It is illegal to drive a camel on the highway."

Now see, there is a law I happen to approve of.

Now if we could just get those guys in their ridiculous spandex outfits and their dumbass bicycles back into the 25MPH zones where they belong! And thanks a lot for sending us them California!

And for example this law in a Michigan town:

Smoking while in bed is illegal

How is that so stupid? That is a fire hazard. When you fall asleep and burn the house down...

I like some of these from Ohio:

Owners of tigers must notify authorities within one hour if the tiger escapes.
(sidenote, the school im going to has a Bengal tiger)

It is illegal to fish for whales on Sunday.

In Ohio, if you ignore an orator on Decoration day to such an extent as to publicly play croquet or pitch horseshoes within one mile of the speaker's stand, you can be fined $25.00.

It's illegal to catch mice without a hunting license!

It is illegal for stores to sell corn flakes on Sunday.

It is against the law to roller skate without notifying the police.

It's illegal for a woman to strip off her clothing while standing in front of a man's picture.

Catch 22 is banned.

You may not run out of gas.

___
Wow, Ohio has alot of stupid laws, but oh well. Im gonna try rollerbladeing backwards while fishing for whales and reading a book on Catch 22's.

If you look at Florida's list - specifically, Key West...

The "dumb law" about chickens being a protected species there is taken VERY seriously. Chickens and roosters walk the streets at their whim, and have the right-of-way over all pedestrians and vehicles. I've no idea what the penalty for injuring or killing one is (especially whilst drunk and doing the "Duval Crawl"), but I imagine it's fairly severe.

When you wake up at 5 AM with a severe hangover, nothing starts out your day right without a serenade from perhaps 100 roosters  headache

Now I wonder if that refers to the book, or the concept.

California

Alhambra
You cannot leave your car on the street overnight without the proper permit.

I got a ticket for this long time back. Sad

BUt rules are really weird. The ones below are for various cities in CA

No vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 miles per hour.

Nobody is allowed to ride a bicycle in a swimming pool.

Detonating a nuclear device within the city limits results in a $500 fine.

It is a crime for dogs to mate within 500 yards of a church. Breaking this law is punishable by a fine of $500 and/or six months in prison.

Molesting butterflies can result in a $500 fine.

It is illegal for a secretary to be alone in a room with her boss.

Two bathtubs may not be installed in the same house.

One may not carry a lunch down the street between 11 and 1 o'clock.

The owners of houses with Christmas lights on them past February second may be fined up to $250.

It is illegal to wipe one's car with used underwear.

I got several when I lived in Pasadena.
Most of those damn suburbs down there has that foolish overnight parkig ban.
Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, San Marino, South Pasadena, etc..

If you live in an unincorperated part of L.A. County, no such laws exist.
(Altadena, Chapman Woods, Ladera Heights, etc.

Illinois:

The English language is not to be spoken.

I'm curious as to what language this law was written in.

You may be arrested for vagrancy if you do not have at least one dollar bill on your person.

Will they take American Express instead?

You must contact the police before entering the city in an automobile.

Try and stop me...

You may be convicted of a Class 4 felony offense, punishable by up to three years in state prison, for the crime of "eavesdropping" on your own conversation. -720 ILCS 5/14-2.

This law appears to be designed to protect people who try to screw you over the phone. It hurts consumers.

Such a fine state I live in...

Well the first one for SC no longer is on the books - just this past year, the Legislature legalized tattooing but haven't set up certification/health standards for tattoo parlors yet. As for the rest, completely unenforced. The Charleston law regarding no motor vehicles on King St is hilarious as King St is one of the biggest retail streets in Charleston and sees plenty of vehicular traffic.
South Carolina - too small to be its own country, too big to be a mental asylum.
