Bush Neighbor Lets War Protesters Use Land

Wed Aug 17, 2005 10:24 am

AP Article

CRAWFORD, Texas - One of President Bush's neighbors will allow use of his land by dozens of war protesters who have camped in roadside ditches the past 11 days, giving them more room and halving their distance from Bush's ranch.

Demonstrators said Fred Mattlage made the offer because he sympathizes with them.

A distant cousin who owns nearby land, Larry Mattlage, fired a shotgun twice into the air Sunday but no one was injured.

A resident was arrested Monday night after authorities say he ran over hundreds of small wooden crosses bearing names of fallen U.S. soldiers.

Tuesday morning, several landowners asked county commissioners to extend for at least two miles the public "no parking" zone around Bush's ranch. The ordinance now prohibits cars from stopping on the road within about a quarter of a mile.

These people protesting are just wasting time, they need to get a life. The people who died enlisted on their own free will. Bush did not force them, if he did, it would be different.

Tell that to the hundreds of reservists and national guards now serving extended duty. Gee, I wonder what would have happened if W's unit had been sent to war when he was in the guard. The neighbor, having actually served in the armed forces somehow has much more compassion than that Weasle of a president we're stuck with.
It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

What????
Not 100% of the Crawford people support Bush?
Only 99.999%?
That's antidemocratic. It should be 100% !!

PS: It is just a joke.
But this person is very courageous to do this in this area. You say that protester say he agrees with them. Maybe. Or maybe not . Maybe he only does this in the name of safety. (People staying along the roads; peole shooting,...)
Nothing woth being in the news or discussed here. Just a non event

Financial constraints are what they are - pressure. Or why is there such a huge share of the underpriviledged in the troops? "Free will" has a wide margin in this case.

Like I said in the other thread, similar subject . . . it isn't about Sheehan's son anylonger . . . it now border's on the ridiculous . . . and she is but a puppet . . .

Anti-War Protestors and Pro-War protestors. . . . both using Sheehan's issue as a jumping off point . . .

Not to worry, PotUS will go back to DC in a week or 10 days and the place will again be a dustbowl in the middle of Texas. And Sheehan's 15 min of fame will be gone as will the 15 minutes for both groups . . .

Smile - being US citizen myself, who voted in CRUCIAL OHIO against Bush, something to clarity:

ouf of US population, how many people can vote? (i.e. minus underage, legal alliens etc): should be around 75 %

out of these 75 %, about 50 % actually register for vote - OK, let's take 60 % anyways

out of these registered people, only about 50 % actually participate in the election .. OK, let's take 60 % again

out of these remaining people, about 50 % have allegedly voted for Bush only. So:

.75 * .6 * .6 *.5 = .135 --> 13.5 % of America's population has actually voted for Bush

Great number, and great participation

Did I get the numbers right?
