Tell Us About Your 20th Bday And The 20's

Fri Aug 19, 2005 1:39 pm

Hey guys!!

Today/Tomorrow (August 19th that is) is my 20th birthday. My second decade in this world and in this modern age in which we all live ( we have airplanes!)

I'll be in school with my friends, celebrating and being thankful that I'm one year older. Mentally, physically and socially healthy and that I'm with all the people that loves me and that of course, I love.

Besides getting all sentimental about getting into the 20's and saying goodbye to my teen years (which were, THE YEARS) I'll be having a party at my house.

Special guests: Vodka, Rum, Tequila, Whisky, and whatever you can think about.

Normal guest: friends, whatever... anyone who would like to join is invited to do so.

I'm very excited about the 20's, don't know what to expect :P So that's why I thought it would be cool to know your experiences during your 20th bday and the 20's  Wink

Cheers!

Focus on school. Learn, learn, learn. Then learn some more. Knowledge is the key to one's future. Don't have improbable lofty goals because, more than likely, you'll look back and realize you didn't focus on the little steps that you have to take to get to the top. You can't get to the top without taking those little steps. Do a good job at whatever job you have...even if it's miserable. It'll pay off later. Sometime in the mid to late 20's you'll start seeing things go your way and you'll reach realistic goals with more success.

I didn't follow this advice and paid the price. It's like I lost ten years of quality time.

Mark

I do hate to be picky, but actually, you are entering your 3rd decade - now, doesn't that make you feel old? hehehe Big grin

And anyway, I may be old but I don't remember the 20's, I was born in the 50's!

And my 20's were spent in an alcoholic haze. I think I got married at some stage, after leaving a good job in an airline to join the RAF. Sheesh, the things you do when your young!

Enjoy it, use it to the fullest and whatever you do - HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!  Big grin

On my 20th birthday, I was working the summer at Glacier National Park in Montana as a waiter at Many Glacier Hotel. My mother sent me a lemon birthday cake cushioned by popcorn (I kid you not). A big bully named Bull who worked at the lodge wanted a piece and used his pocket knife to cut himself a slice. That was a VERY memorable summer and birthday.

Enjoy your youth!

Why mighty 21? Because you may drink beer in the US? Here in continental Europe the 21 birthday is not important at all. In the most countries you are of full legal age with 18.

Anyway, happy birthday!!

On my 20th birthday, I was working in Spain, and were doing cabaret rehearsals until gone 10pm, then we had to go to a karaoke bar so a couple of the girls could practice their singing (can't stand karaoke) and had to spend it with a load of bitches I couldn't stand working with that season, so I had a really good birthday.

Happy belated...

I hope you just got drunk and enjoyed it. But, in my opinion, the only thing great about being in your 20s is that you are probably still as horny as you were in your teens.

Cheers!

Tequila

yummy  I'd drink one for you, but alcohol and medicine don't mix quite well... (pinche resfriado)

Anyway, my 20th birthday was not that extraordinary. I had to work as usual, got the usual hugs and best wishes from my friends, and my parents took me out for dinner in the evening.

And my best friend had to take his mom to the airport that day, so he completely forgot about me: no calls, no e-mails, nothing!  crying  I just had to forgive him, mainly because he hasn't seen his mom since that day (2 yrs ago).

My mother insists her teen years were the greatest, and she would give anything to bring them back. Not me... I'm enjoying my 20's more than any other time! Sure, there are more responsibilities, more worries, less time for fun... but it's just part of growing up.  Smile

So, my final word of advice: No tomes... las cosas en serio!

Hope you enjoy your b-day!

We'll need Falcon84 to tell us about the Twenties. I think he was a feisty paperboy doing courier work for a benevolent bootlegger. Maybe he'll teach us how to do the charleston  Smile

My 20th birthday ? was on a holiday-trip in Italy and on my birthday was in Venice, enjoyed that marvellous old city, and had two excellent meals in restaurants just along those canals. On my 40th birthday I was on holidays in Oman and had a wonderful evening meal in an Indian restaurant in the 2nd floor of the airport, overlooking the Indian Ocean with many lights from the oiltankers and merchant-ships. And my 53rd birthday was in Alexandria, with an absolutely superb meal in a beautiful restaurant at the Sa'ad Zaghloul Square, with a view onto the Mediterranean with the Ras-el-Tin-Palace to the left.

Many other birthdays however were just normal days and nothing special.

Can't remember 20 but I do remember 21.

Funny...you turn 20/21 and then all of a sudden you are thirty! I seem to have been caught in a part of life after 21 where everything speeded right up and I got to see and do a hell of a lot of stuff, and time flies.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find my own way there...

Well, thanks for reminding me that I have completely forgotten my 20th birthday... hell, come to think of it, my entire 20's are somewhat of a blur!  Wink

Anyway, that was eons ago, at 31 years of age, trying to focus on my 30's, before they too become nothing but a blur...

Happy Birthday, and Good Luck.

Yikes - my 20th was over 1/2 my life ago. .  old

I was living in Anchorage, assistant manager at the largest branch of the state's largest travel agency. A good friend owned a bar on 4th street, so if I wasn't at work, I was probably at the bar, doing things I'm not going to admit on a public forum!

My 20s were great, lived all over the country and travelled all over the world. Really gave me an understanding about who I am and what I want to be in this life. I experimented, did lots of stupid things, but don't regret any of it, it's made me who I am.

Enjoy, explore and remember these years are the foundation of your adult life.

May 20th 2000 was my 20th birthday, and from the events that I remember, I was at the lake in Grand Bend Ontario, we had a cottage party up on the lake, lots of beer, and lots of people, bonfire, beach, and swimming, and everything else is a blur. Now being the mature 25yr old now, I can say that not much has changed from that year to this. Hope you had a blast.

Well, I wish you a happy belated birthday. How were/are the 20s? Hmm, O.K. I guess. It doesn't matter how old you are in order to have fun, it's what you make of your time. Physical fitness might decrease as you get older - that would be a point to consider. So, if you wanted to climb the K2, I wouldn't wait until you are in your 70s.  Wink

20

you're the most beautiful at that age. unpolished inside strength at its best. At least it was for me.

it's one extreme, and 30 is the other. The problem at 20 is that you can only have wild unreasonable fun, but no money whatsoever to do the things you want to do at that age.

at 30 (me now), you can buy whatever you drooled for when you were 20, but you're bored of all that and you're saving to build/buy a house where you will grow old (how boring!!! but true!!!).

25 is not bad. it's kind of the middle.

Happy birthday KLM685,

My 20th birthday was a total fiasco as my sister and his husband chose to get married the same day ! So what would have been a fantastic "bamboula" between my friends and I turned out to be a lousy wedding day. I was the photographer of their wedding... what a crap !!! They knew it months and months before that but they did it anyway that day ! I'm always angry thinking of that ! They could have at least postpone to another f*!+ing day.

f: "What have you done for your 20th birthday ?"
me: "Taking pictures in a wedding..."

I hated being 20, no longer a teenager and not quite a full adult. (At least in the US).

I have no recollection of that particular birthday so I was either drunk or didn't do squat.

20's weren't bad, 30 were GREAT and I just turned 40. Like a fine wine I get better with age!  thumbsup
