We had a lot of rain today! I was just on my way to my local station to go to the cinema in Crawley, when it absolutely belted down, thunder, lightning, the works. As we were waiting in the platform, for the northbound train, the southbound train bound for Bognor Regis came in. While it was sitting there, lightning hit the track next to this train and there was one almighty bang! Pretty scary, but we were sheltered thankfully.
Then we got on our train and 2 stations up the line at Horsham, we were delayed for 10 minutes as the signal box had been hit by lightning. When we got to Crawley, we walked through the station ticket office and there was an alarm going off, and all the lights were off and the screens were off. Stepped outside, the traffic lights were off, so it was a "take your life in your own hands" moment as you crossed. It was tipping down with rain so we decided we'd walk through the shopping mall. There were loads of people outside, i though presumably sheltering, waiting for buses. But then i went to the door stepped in a massive puddle that came up to my ankles accidently. The mall was flooded, and cut out, everybody had been chucked out. So walked the outside way, past all the shops that had been shut due to the power cut which took out most of the town. Soon enough the rain had stopped and the skies were completely blue. I'm guessing the power had come back on by now.
Came out of the cinema after seeing Dukes of Hazzard (great film!) and got back on the train, and were looking straight into that sunset. It was awesome.
Well thats the great British summer for you. Raining one minute, clear the next.
