FCC Radio License

Sat Aug 27, 2005 6:33 am

Hey all, I'm having some trouble getting a radio license (to operate an American aircraft outside of the United States). If anyone can help, let me know.

What is your approach to getting it? I applied for and received mine through the FCC's website without a hitch.

Well, on the website, the name of the license doesn't match any option on that dropdown menu for license applications. When I do select one, the damn form never loads, and the paper form is about 8 pages too long.

What is the actual name of that license on the dropdown menu?

I also have a problem with the license. I am trying to register two 5-mile range walkie talkies and they say that I have to pay $80 in fees that's twice what I paid for them! So I know I'm not doing something right. Does anyone have any advice?

Well, I figured out my situation, but that website is horribly complicated to use.

I'm curious as to why you would even bother. There are laws, and then there are laws that are just plain ignored.
