Sun Sep 04, 2005 4:25 am

after the tremendousness hurricane in the US, Venezuelean Presdident Hugo Chavez offerd special oil (very cheap priced) deliveries to the US, my question will Mr. G.W Bush accept this? (this would be make him unbelievable against his position to the Venezuelean President.

Talk about damned if you do/don't...

I say no, "because you can't trust your enemies", and "you have to stay the course" no matter how DUMB it becomes.

There's a certain point at which you NEED that oil. Once you get there, it's cutting off your nose to spite your face if you refuse it. I don't think we're at that point yet, but we may end up getting there.

Of course, it's not like getting the oil from Saudi Arabia is going to send money towards a fantastic government either...

Its not Mr.Bush, it's President Bush. Even if you do not like him he still did win 2 elections and one should show respect for the office.

With that out of the way I do not think that we should take oil from a socialist dictator at any price. Besides its not the lack of crude that is killing us at the pump its the lack in ability to produce the finished product i.e jet fuel diesel and gas. We need to get refineries built and working as soon as possible.

Umm Late newsflash we have been taking 1/3 of our imported oil from him.. the only question is if we take the 'special oil'

wrong again..

A) We are having an import issue as well. The loss of the production of the rigs in the gulf needs to be compensated for, but shouldn't be a national tragedy.
B) We need to rebuild the dammaged ones, there are no NEW refineries being built in the US at this time.

I think we should take it. I thought a point of the United States becoming a world super power and being a major player in the United Nations was to help take the steps to achieve peaceful relations between nations, and to be a role model in doing so.

Oh wait, war in Iraq. Nevermind.

Wether or not to take the 'extra' "gift" oil I guess ?!?!
It's all part of the INSANE justification/rationalization of paying the Saudis for it as well  Yeah sure

No offense to the thread starter, but it's obvious English is his second language, so why don't you quit being an asshole about it. I happen to know George is down with the "Mr.", too.

I dont think he should. Americans need to pay market value for the oil they need, not receive anything subsidized or free of charge.

Americans need to do this to understand the unsustainability of our lifestyles.

Moreover, why don’t we just remove him from power? After all, he’s an evil-doer...
