Interesting.
Very soon we'll be saying that there's no Englishmen in London.
A bit like saying there's no Man Utd fans in Manchester  Wink

I'm a Londoner and I was born in the UAE, although I am White British. What category does that put me in then?
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Because you were born in the UAE, I guess you're a foreigner then.
I'm just surprised that as much as 25% of Londoners are non English/British

Probably an asylum seeker.

Statistically, people who have had the most birthdays tend to live the longest.

This doesn't surprise me at all. Many of the inner city residents of London are likely to be workers in various service industries and are often migrants from other nations. Look how many you see at Heathrow in various capacities. Meanwhile many of the White British people you see working in the City actually lives miles from London and often commute long distances as they prefer to live in leafy country areas not in the city (and they can afford to!).

There is also a tendency for immigrants to head for London as there are large communities that most nationalities can look to for support. In other parts of Britain, many of the large ethnic communities are long established and tend to be from certain countries e.g. Indians in Birmingham and Pakistanis in Manchester and Yorkshire.

All this of course adds to the unfair bias towards the London airports when it comes to serving these countries from the UK.

No kidding.

You drive around LHR and you won't see too many English people around there. Occasionally when I got to Heathrow for a flight somewhere I feel like i'm in a foreign country, it doesn't feel English (despite the weather Big grin). It's no different from New York or Los Angeles though. London is a big city and England is a country that alot of people immigrate to. I'm suprised actually that the number is as low as 1 quarter!

You obviously haven't been in central London recently. Sometimes when I catch the tube from Ealing, I am often the only white english speaking person on my carriage.

How wonderful to have such a strong sense of community and historical continuity as that.

In my state the majority of the voting population lives in a less-than two year old 2 bedroom apartment in Las Vegas, they work at a casino in an entry level job and they have lived in this state less than two years and have never visited any city here other than Las Vegas. (of course that is a pretty short list of cities)

How I envy the old-world stability of a place like London where three out of four are natives.
Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.
