Kanye West, Booed In Boston?

Sat Sep 10, 2005 8:37 am

I'm telling you lefties... you think this Bush bashing is your ticket to the Presidency in 2008? You might want to take interest in this:

This is from DRUDGE 9/9/05:

"The chart topping hip hop rapper star who used a network hurricane fundraiser to charge "George Bush doesn't care about black people" was loudly and lustily booed during last night's NFL kickoff show.

The appearance of Kanye West, who was beamed into the Boston stadium via remote from Los Angeles, received a strongly negative response from the crowd.

"The boos were thunderous and lasted for much of his number," reports the BOSTON GLOBE."

Keep in mind, this crowd was in Boston! Not exactly known as the Republican Headquarters. Again, you people here who support this bashing, it's backfiring already!

What Kanye said was ignorant, and just plain stupid. As Colin Powell said, "so many African-Americans were left unprotected because they were poor, rather than because they were black." I think Kanye really should have kept his mouth shut. Then again, he's a rapper. Everyone knows how well they keep quiet.

Well, allow me to point out an inaccuracy. Gillette Stadium is in Foxborough, not in Boston. It's some 25 miles south of Boston. You may or may not know, Massachusetts has a Republican Governor, and while much of the state is still largely democratic, due to infiltration of people from less desireable parts of the country (I'M KIDDING!), Massachusetts has a strong Republican populace.

Anyway, despite that, we here, Dem or Repub, know bullshit when we smell it, and Kayne West's comments were construed as bullshit, nothing more. He who had to check with his accountant before proclaiming how much money he could donate to relief.

So, you can use this to deflect Bush's shortcomings, but I, like many I know, realize that the shortcomings of this Administration have very little to do with Katrina relief, and much to do with underhanded curbing of civil rights, and financial gains/breaks for those who do not really need it. (Whether they've earned it is not the point. I ferverntly believe if you've been fortunate enough to be blessed with wealth, you need to pay back, especially when much of this wealth is in the hands of CEOs who make disproportionate $$$ while their employees need to strike, or have no health insurance, or who provide "financial advice" through the Stock Market, or who sell million-dollar properties, and take home a cool percentage with no real knowledge or anything. What a crock.)

You got it wrong, they booed all African-Americans, not only Kanye West. I look forward for the Rev. Sharpton's words of outrage. He will demand an apology from the whole state of Taxachussetts, I mean Massachusetts.  Wink

Let me just add, that while I have no great love of the right wing, I realize that the only way we can accomplish anything is to work together. Now I know I blow a little shit your way every now and then, but in the long run, I try to present my side with minimal bashing of your side. However, this post smacks of bashing and inciting right-wing sharks to smell blood, and left-wing perps to defend themselves most vehemently.

Hardly working together, but it does sell "tickets."

Then why is it that whenever someone from the left fringe says something really stupid, we don't see mainstream Democrats stand up and tell him to shut the hell up? When Pat Robertson made his stupid comments, mainstream republicans were all over him, and the White House denounced his comments within about 10 minutes. Where were Democrats criticizes the ignorant silly comments of West, Sheehan, and others?

This is like the scene in Ron Burgundy where they are sitting around after the newsteam rumble and Ron remarks...."Wow, that got ugly fast!" and Champ says "Yeah, Brick killed a guy". "Oh, yeah! What was that? A trident?"

Logan22L answered "Yeah...it was a trident! I killed a guy with a trident!"

Yes, but you people keep coming to your beloved icon's assistance as if he were still running for election. Treat the man as President, and accept his miserable failures for what the are - an inability to keep the peace in Iraq, blatant lies that got us there, and a belief that NO government is good government in the Grover Norquist model. Even a rabid right winger like George Wills stated recently that this is a liberal hour showing the "indispensablity and dignity of government." 20 years after the Reagan revolution, there are many on the left who recognize Reagan's successes in limiting taxation, but even after that, Reagan and his honchos never let sheer incompetence rule the day. Sheesh, he even got 65% of the vote in 1984.

But this President is just a shameless self-aggrandizing sh*t. Four years after 9-11, and less than a month after the destruction of a major American city, this President keeps dividing America instead of bringing us together. All of us gave him a chance post 9-11, and instead of ruling from the middle, all he has done is cater to the likes of B757300, people who hardly represent the grace and tolerance of America.

What a load of BS. When Pat Robertson blamed 9-11 on gays, he got an invitiation - several invitations to the White House. Keep your BS to yourself, Cfalk. Your grasp of facts is tenuous at best, infiltratedwith ganja at worst.

Bullshit. The dividers are the ones who demanded his resignation any time something they did not like happened, and encouraged everyone else to believe what they believed and printed as fact their opinions on his intelligence and effectiveness. You treat everyone as if they are idiots for having different perceptions and it gets irritating after a while.

Just as most on the left immediately jump to Clintons defence and offer up BS rationalizations and help him take credit for things that he did nothing to engender. We're headed off thread topic here, but I'll keep this up if you want. Or you can start another...yes another....thread on why do people support their leaders.

One last thing. A divider is someone who offers visceral opposition to the status quo and seeks to pull people away from a path thus creating a division. It seems, from evidence, that the left has been the great divider over the last several years.

West could have been in John Kerry's living room performing and he would still get booed. I think every American (or citizen of PLANET EARTH) can see some poor judgment in his actions. What he did was just plain stupid, he used the hurricane Katrina relief show to his own personal advantage.

Please.
I've never defended Al Sharpton. Your comment only goes to show that you defend every bigoted comment Robertson has stated. If and when the Moron of Tawana Brawley fame starts to lobby leaders to deny Americans their basic civil rights, I'll call him an uber Moron. In the interim, go on feting Robertson shamelessly. Sharpton may be a loudmouthed asshole, but he's not working with the White House to marginalize huge swaths of Americans like Robertson is.

What a load of crap.
Clinton was under attack not only by the far right, but also by the left wing of the Democratic party for tightening up welfare, and for cutting back on social benefits. Most of Clinton's supporters were moderate Dems and unaffiliated voters.

Spare me your impassioned defense of the President and his shortcomings. Four years after 9-11 this President just got 51% of the vote. He barely made inroads among the huge group of people in the middle. Why? Its because he refused to govern with all Americans in mind. And as far as dividers go, yes, I bet that all those who worked for this administration (like Colin Powell) who saw the evidence for the Iraqi war being the BS that it was, to the BBC, to Scotland Yard, to 10 Downing Street, are the "dividers." Yes, anyone who doesn't agree with the President and the BS he shoved down our throats are dividers. Its the kind of crap that General Franco spouted when the press and his opponents criticized him. Spain may be spared Franco, but we're stuck with the same rubbish they had to endure for years. EIther love the great leader, or be deemed a traitorous divider.

And as far as treating people like idiots, maybe you feel like one when you're called on your beliefs. That's your problem, and the President's problem. Not mine.

Jerry Falwell, 700 Club, 2001-SEP-13." Pat Robertson agreed.

Robertson has been invited to the White House 4 times in 2002, 3 times in 2004. Do a FOIA Request for each date. Or else just call up the White House. Under FOIA, they are mandated to tell you. If you are not an American national, they aren't, but I bet you can get someone on here to call up for you.
