Whats Your Favorite Quote From "Airplane II"

Mon Sep 12, 2005 12:17 pm

I thought we should start another thread on Airplane II

My favorite is

NICE!

Sadly "Airplane II" was a weak follow up to one of the best flicks of 1980. I think I laughed, twice.

The "Mission Impossible" spoof was funny. Oh, and Jack Jones was in it.

Interesting note: One television version, released after the announcement that Ronald Reagan had developed Alzheimer's disease, changes the sign used in Ted Striker's escape sequence from "Ronald Reagan Home for the Mentally Ill" to "Donald Dragon Home for the Mentally Ill."

Definately not as funny as the original, but there were a few laughs.
Boy: Mr? Can I ask you a question?
Ted Stryker: A question? What is it?
Boy: It's an interrogative statement, used to totest knowledge, but that's not important right now.

TSE,

I will grant you that the original Airplane was a lot funnier; but I can't believe that you forgot about the many indirect Star Trek references/spoofs, mostly from William Shatner, during the film.

A couple of examples:

1. When opening a sliding door, one had to say, Shhh... Shhh. upon approaching.

2. When arriving on the bridge (remember, there is no tower); Shatner comments (paraphraised), "Why are all these lights flashing like this?" in reference to the bridge lights blinking resembling those of the Enterprise.

Didn't like it, compared to the first Airplane it was lame. Spaceballs was a much better sci-fi parody.
If God had wanted men to fly he would have given them more money...

"Check it Blade! Bro was onnnnn! Didn't trip. But the folks they was freakin, man! Hey, the pilots was laid to the bone Homes, but blood hamme'd out and jammed. Tighten that sad sucka 'side the runway like a mutha fuhshiiit!"
Or something to that effect...

But overall the movie was a total waste of time!

I think it went like this:
Elaine: We are a tad off course. In space terms, a tad is about a hundred million miles. Oh, and we're out of coffee!" (cue pandemonium)

"NOOO Andy was a rock, best pilot in the organization, it was Stryker who fell to pieces, how he survived..."
"So Howie survived?"

Captain: "I see, What do you think our alternatives are?"

My favourite quote (I think it was from Airplane II) was when the two guys speaking Jive appeared in Court and the Judge asked them to describe "in their own words" what happened on the crashed flight in the previous movie. They started talking pure Jive rubbish. Unfortunately, I cannot remember exactly what they said (as I have not seen the movie for some while) but I remember laughing out loud at this point (and at the Court recorder typing the transcript who merely carried on with her typing plus the typewriter roller that flew across the court room at about the same time).

Anyone remember or able to quote the dialogue?

IIRC, the translation was something like this:
"Mr. Striker performed exceptionally. The passengers were very concerned. The pilots were incapacitated, but Mr. Striker took control and landed that plane safely. Golly!"
