What Is Your Favorite Soup?

Wed Sep 21, 2005 12:05 pm

I thought I would try something different here and see what your favorite soup is. As for me, I think it is old school Campbells Tomato Soup with a few crushed club crackers tossed in.

I dont really give a fuck about my soup as long as it meets these requirements:

1. its hot when served
2. it tastes good
3. it doesnt contain brocolli

All in all,i LOVE hot and sour soup Big grin

I seem to go through different favorites at different times.

Currently, the soup at the top of my list is Pea Soup with Smoked Ham .... it's made by Habitant. Umm Umm!  yummy

I had cream of pumpkin soup in a hotel before and I loved it, but can't seem to find it in the supermarket. I've made it myself but dosen't taste the same. Otherwise, my other favourite is Heinz cream of tomato, with some salt and loads of black pepper.

French onion! Yummm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm actually a real soup lover. I can enjoy very many kinds: beef barley, chicken noodle, clam chowder, a good fish soup (possibly with tomato base, as is a Serbian recipe), Czesneczka (a Czech soup with garlic, esp. the "rich" version with bacon and cheese), a good plain beef soup, cream of mushroom soup, plain mushroom soup, minestrone. All good stuff.

At home, well that's a different story as I have a huge soup pot and love to cook all kinds of homemade soups especially at this time of year when all the vegtables are in the stores!!!! Yummie!!!!

One good one that you can sometimes get at the big Highland Farms supermarket snack bar in Toronto on Dufferin Street: fagioli (beans, vegetables and I think also maccaroni, basically a kind of minestrone).

At the Jerusalem restaurant in Toronto´s North end, there is a fabulous yellow lentil soup. That restaurant has a good all you can eat buffet.

I don't have a favourite of anything because there is so much variety in this world that I get enjoyment from many things. But in light of the question...

Cold Soup:
Watermelon - yummy

Hot Soup:
French Onion
Beef & Barley
Pumpkin Soup
Spicy Peanut Butter Soup.

My friend has a restaurant and she makes the best Peanut Butter Soup. This would be close to the top of my list.

Cheers!

There is a chain of restaurants here called McMinimins. I don't know if they are nationwide, but they have a soup called Spicy Chicken Peanut Soup. I told my mom about it and she thought I was talking about Chicken Feet soup. Every time we go there, we order the Chicken Feet soup. It is so spicy and warm Mmmmmm.....
