The Patient And The Doctors...

Thu Sep 22, 2005 6:09 am

Patient: -"So, Doctor, what do I need to do to stop my arteries from clogging?"

Doctor #1: -"Well, for starters you should stop eating that Megaburger with bacon you have every day."

Doctor #2: -"But Doctor #1, there is no direct evidence to suggest the Megaburger with bacon is clogging our patient's arteries. It seems to be hereditary."

Doctor #1: -"I disagree, I think that Megaburger with bacon is doing our patient in. And he'll get worse if he doesn't stop."

Doctor #2: -"Again, there is no conclusive evidence to suggest Megaburger with bacon is to blame for his third angina in 14 months. For now let's give him prescription XZ45A, that will help clear his arteries"

Doctor #1: -"Absolutely not. That medicine is forbidden in my practice because it is vile the way it's made. They harmed two guinea pigs in trials for it!!"

Doctor #2: -"Stop being a hypocrite Doctor #1, you gave XZ45A to your girlfriend's father and his arteries are doing much better..."

Doctor #1: -"Well, yeah but that was an excemption because..."

Patient: - "I caaan't breathh... ahh.. my cheesst, my chhhss... oooooooo..."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

You might be thinking by now this is the most ridiculous thread ever, right!

And you will think in about 10 seconds that it is about to get even more ridiculous when I tell you that this thread is about Global warming and Climate...
<10 seconds have elapsed>

...Right???

Well, replace the Patient with 'Planet Earth', and replace Doctor #1 with 'an environmentalist who's a die hard global warming = manmade', and Doctor #2 with an 'anti-global warming who's a die hard global warming = not manmade'.

Heat waves killing thousands in Europe. Glaciars in Antarctica melting. Massive typhoons in Asia, huge hurricanes in North America. Severe droughts in Africa. Tremendous fires in Australia. People dying and world economies being disrupted. Does it matter at this point what is causing it all? See, this is my opinion. Global warming may or may not be a man made phenomenon, but aren't we getting to a point where no matter what it's caused by action needs to be taken? See, people can argue all they want about what is causing what, but in the meantime the patient is falling even more ill.

So, DOCTOR #2 , I say that greenhouse emissions need to be cut drastically, whether or not they are causing global warming, period. (Cut the Megaburger!)

And, DOCTOR #1, stop being a hypocrite and telling everyone else to cut the megaburger (driving big cars and overusing so much plastic), while you still keep endulging yourself with an Ultraburger with Triple Cheese!

Yes, or no?

Although I agree that global warming is an issue and that it is most probably caused by polution, here is my problem:

It's the same thing with people trying to predict hurricanes.

Should we order an evacuation 5 days before landfall? If their predictions are right, they will be held as heros. If not, they will be incinerated by politicians for costing the economy millions, and the worse part is that people will after some point lose faith in the weatherman and think "yeah right, that thing won't hit us, just like the last X times" and the BAM! It hit's them.

You can't go all out with whatever theory is out there, there are consequences.

Cheers
