In The Beginning.....

Sun Sep 25, 2005 11:08 pm

I'm sure my fellow South African a.netters will enjoy this one!

In the beginning God created day and night. He created day for growing grass on rugby pitches, rugby matches, going to the beach and having a BBQ. He created night for night rugby, one day cricket, sleeping and BBQ's. God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Second Day.

On the Second Day God created water - for diving, snorkelling, fishing, sailing, surfing, swimming and BBQ's on the beach.

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Third Day.

On the Third Day God created the Earth to bring forth plants - to grow plants like grass for rugby and cricket pitches, also hops, grapes and yeast and trees for BBQ wood and wine barrels. Spices for food and fodder for animals. God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Fourth Day.

On the Fourth Day God created animals of the earth and of the sea, chops, boerewors, steak and prawns for BBQ's and chicken to go with the peri-peri and the garlic. God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Fifth Day.

On the Fifth day God created the men - boys to go to the rugby, enjoy the beach, drink the beer and wine. Someone to eat BBQ meat and prawns and the peri-peri chooks. God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Sixth Day.

On the Sixth Day God saw that the men were lonely and needed buddies to go to the rugby and cricket, surf, fetch cold beer, comment on fine wine and generally talk nonsense to around the great BBQ fire and stand around the BBQ with. So God created buddies, and God saw that they were good "blokes".

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Seventh Day.

On the Seventh Day God saw that the "blokes" were tired and needed a rest. So God created "Chicks" - to clean the house, bear children, wash, cook and clean the BBQ.

Evening came and it was the end of the Seventh day. God sighed, looked around at the twinkling BBQ fires, heard the hiss of opening beer cans and the happy laughter of all the "blokes" with their "chicks", he smelled the aroma of grilled chops and sizzling prawns, and God saw that it was not just good, it was better than anticipated, it was very good ........ So he named it - SOUTH AFRICA.
