O Flower of Scotland,
When will we see
Your like again,
That fought and died for,
Your wee bit Hill and Glen,
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

The Hills are bare now,
And Autumn leaves
lie thick and still,
O'er land that is lost now,
Which those so dearly held,
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

Those days are past now,
And in the past
they must remain,
But we can still rise now,
And be the nation again,
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

0 Flower of Scotland,
When will we see
your like again,
That fought and died for,
Your wee bit Hill and Glen,
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

Those are impressive pics, GKirk. Did you ever think that maybe there are those of us who work a lot of hours and do not have the time to find such things? Hmm?

Anyway, good pics (more than a slob like me deserves, eh?)

I'm all for national pride, and have my fair share as an Australian (thanks for those pics QFF). I even produced a couple of coffee-table picture/photo books on Australia's magnificent north-west. But I have to say that I have never met any people as fervently patriotic as the Scots.
I have Scottish ancestry on both sides, and my mother in particular never emotionally left the Highlands, even though she came to Australia at 15 years of age. So I had a childhood of believing that I was totally Scottish (although born in Australia), and that once even remotely Scottish, you never became anything else. Well, that eventually changed, although passing through Glencoe earlier this year I began to understand what it all meant. Ten days of experiencing names/places like Glencoe, Stornoway, the Trossachs, Lockerbie, Edinburgh and more really helped me understand why the Scots are so fervent about their homeland. The alcohol helped, as well.
And I doubt that any country has a song as stirring as "Flower of Scotland". Maybe except for "Waltzing Matilda" or "I Still Call Australia Home", of course.
Cheers

Great thread.

Here's some pics of where I go to school, at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.

Here's some pics of my hometown of La Canada, CA. It's a suburb of L.A.

Nothing terribly exciting. I'll post more pictures of some of my favorite places when I have more time.

I can't believe I said that. For what it's worth I apologize. A smart a#*ed remark like that is uncalled for. I was what I despise; a jerk  banghead  Again, sorry  Sad (I suppose if A.net has a "den of shame" then I'm in it)

With that said, I will try to post some pics of Alabama, USA (where I live, for now). The fields of cotton, which are "in bloom" right now, are lovely to see  Smile
