Need Ideas For Sydney And Melbourne

Wed Oct 05, 2005 2:39 am

on 15 November myself and MYT332 arrive in Sydney and will stay for 2 nights, on the 17th we fly onto Melbourne where we will stay for 2 nights. What are the best things to do in both cities during the day and also the evening?

In Sydney I recommend the Bridge Walk. It is not strenous and a unique experience. You will also be in the area of the Opera House and harbor tours.

Just google Sydney bridge walk, they have a web-site.

Both cities have nice observation towers, which are good to kill half an hour or so (if a little expensive).

In Sydney, take a Harbour tour by boat. You see plenty, and it is very relaxing! Melbourne also offer river tours. We did a cruise to Williamstown, again the cruise is very interesting as there is plenty to see. Williamstown is nice (and I can recommend the fish and chip shop there for Barramundi and chips!)

There is so so much to do in Sydney really. See a show, dinner in a wonderful restaurant, go to a club (if you are so inclined). It depends on what you're into.

I might be wrong, but I have a feeling there might be a night tour of Sydney Airport which includes riding around in a bus on the runways and taxiways.

Melbourne has river cruises that go out into Port Phillip Bay. Not quite as spectacular as the Sydney cruises but an intersting experience cos you're in the same shipping lanes as the the container ships that go to P&O's Swanston Dock West and Patricks at Appleton Dock.

We also have a restuarant tram that goes all over the Melbourne tram network. It does have to be booked and isn't cheap but you should be able to find stuff on it if you ask the hotel you're staying at in Sydney.

If you want to see .............interesting architecture try wandering around Federation Square. Unless you want to buy something it's free

Do the bridge walk in Sydney...it's really cool. Other than that its the usual stuff....bondi beach, opera house etc.

Melbourne has heaps of clubs...if you guys are into clubbing and stuff. Check out the Rialto Towers, Crown Casino, Sea World (if you wanna see such stuff...lol).
