Veteran UK broadcaster David Frost is to join Aljazeera International, the Qatar-based broadcaster's new English-language channel due to be launched next spring.

Aljazeera said on Friday Sir David, who broadcast his final Breakfast with Frost programme for the BBC in May, would be among the "key on-air talent".

Frost was quoted as saying he felt "excitement" about his new role.
"Most of the television I have done over the years has been aimed at British and American audiences," he said.

"This time, while our target is still Britain and America, the excitement is that it is also the six billion other inhabitants of the globe."?Ê?Frost's interview shows have attracted world leaders. He notched up 500 editions of Breakfast with Frost before bowing out.

Aljazeera has also signed a former U.S. Marine, Josh Rushing, to provide commentary on their network.

A 14-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps who held the ranks private through to captain, Josh gained prominence as a central figure in the major motion picture documentary "Control Room", which chronicles his struggles as the United States military's lead spokesperson to the Arab world during the invasion of Iraq.

Josh's outspoken and conscientious nature in this sensitive role, his conflicts with the Pentagon and his subsequent resignation from the Marines, as well his regular appearances as a fresh, non-partisan, critical voice in broadcast and print media have made him among the most recognisable young media voices today.

Very interesting - it appears that they are trying to go with reputable figures to provide a counter claims of bias. Of course to some these two are already considered biased, so it won't sway the hard core doubters, but I look forward to listening to them.

Looks as if they are to bring together a high-class crew. Suppose, Mr Frost also will be employed as a kind of instructor for English-speaking Arab TV-journalists, showing them the way. A good sign for what can be expected to be a major player in this field in the future .
