Software To Back Up DVD Movies

Tue Oct 11, 2005 8:14 am

Hey guys,

So, I've been having quite a problem lately with friends borrowing and scratching or otherwise destroying my DVD movies. Add that to the occasional one being misplaced and such, and I'd like to know if anyone knows of any software I can download for free that will allow me to make backup copies of my DVD movies.

I'm fine if the software puts a little warning or something at the beginning as long as I can watch the actual movie exactly like the original at the same quality and such.

Does anyone know of anything? Thanks much!

ROFLMAO!!!!

Try google...when in doubt ask the computer "profesionals" (Helpdesk level) at work DISCRETLY and bribe them with booze.. They will hook you up in no time if you are nice.

Trolling for that info here is like walking into a movie theater and screaming "MPAA PLEASE ARREST ME!!"

Uhh, creating backup copies for personal use is legal. I'm a little afraid of just installing random programs I google from the internet, the whole virus thing. Was hoping someone here knew of something....

C'mon guys, I've seen programs in stores that do exactly what I'm mentioning.

http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...asp?product_code=319368&pfp=SEARCH

Now, CompUSA wouldn't be selling multiple software titles that do this if it were illegal, would they?

100% true... good luck convincing the MPAA of that.

Try www.download.com for reputable 'warez'.

I have a really good one, it's a free app. Forget the name but when I get home from work I'll let you know.

Also, does anyone know if movies can be burned to regular DVDs or do they have to be burned to dual layer ones?

I've found one that I can use for a 30 Day trial... DVDBum. It seems to be very slow, it takes roughly 45 minutes. My drives are much faster than that and I have it set to the fastest burn speed, so I don't know what the deal is.
